I’ve booked many holidays through Expedia and have usually been very satisfied, but unfortunately our stay at Hotel Brittany Opéra in Paris was disappointing.
Breakfast was included in our booking, but when we arrived we were told it would not be provided at all due to building works. This was only communicated at check-in, despite breakfast being one of the reasons we booked. The refund for the breakfasts was processed by Expedia, not the hotel, who failed to take responsibility.
Our room on the 7th floor had scaffolding immediately outside the window, with workers present. We had to keep the curtains closed for privacy. The building works caused loud hammering and drilling, starting as early as 8:30am and continuing until after 9:30pm. We complained to Reception, but the noise continued for another 20 minutes that night and resumed early the next morning.
The location is convenient and the room itself was fine (if a little cramped), but the lack of transparency about the scale and timing of works, plus the removal of breakfast without advance warning, made this stay very disappointing.
