Beautiful historical hotel with great safety. Quiet but still very close to the city center of Florence. The AC in the room was perfect for after naps after walking around all day. This was our first hotel upon arrival and it was wonderful! Monica, Ginebra and Anna Lisa were so helpful and fun to talk to. Location is amazing-steps away from Brunelleschi’s Santo Spirito! Removed from the more overstimulating Centro, but close to everything. Place to store your luggage. Spacious courtyard. Try il libro de arte di Dori for stellar fresh pasta family owned. Just be prepared for a very small bathroom. It’s worth it though.

Disappointing

I booked this place because of the lovely photos of the garden. I found it deceptive that there was no access to the gardens. It was like staying in a YHA but with no amenities or access to grounds. On the plus it is clean and has a good location.

Pretty good

This is a pretty good place to stay. It’s a little farther walk that the center of the city but very manageable. The beds were ok, definitely need pillows that aren’t so flat (but that’s just my preference). The AC saved us! The shower was odd, it leaked all throughout the bathroom and out so be careful. Otherwise it was great for a weekend trip! They let us store our bags for free in their lockers after we checked out because we wanted to do more sightseeing. Good place!

Horrendous, had to leave early

Foresteria Valdese di Firenze. Truly a nightmare that resulted in us having to leave and find a different hotel. Our room was crawling with insects that in the night covered us in large bites all over our bodies including our faces (still prevalent 2 wks later). The photos of the rooms online are not accurate to reality unless you are allocated one of their “upgraded” rooms which are not given to those who book through a third party site. Ours was akin to a prison cell and had a dusty, empty mezzanine which was eerie in the dark. Beds are minuscule and uncomfortable, amenities non-existent. Obsolete wall phone covered in a thick film of dirt and grease. Somehow the room managed to feel dirty yet sterile, humid yet cold at the same time. The only credit we can give is the friendly young staff working at reception. We did get a refund for the nights we didn’t stay, but only because we argued for it. In my view we should have been offered a refund on the full booking given the circumstances. We have stayed in many budget hotels around the world and were not expecting luxury for the price we paid but this place was simply uninhabitable. While one of few, it is certainly not the only cheap place to stay in the Florence - do yourself a favour and go elsewhere.
