We've just come back from a few days in Bruge, staying at the Crowne Plaza. Seeing the high Google rating, I went in with high expectations, but I have to say, I came away a little underwhelmed compared to our last stay at the Marriott in Ghent.
The location is spot on, right in the heart of the old town, so everything is walkable. However, that does come with a price: the street noise is quite noticeable. If you're a light sleeper, you'll want to pack earplugs.
The hotel itself feels really dated. The rooms are on the small side, the bathrooms are tired, and the toiletries are the cheap, standard stuff you'd expect at a budget airport hotel, definitely not what I anticipated from this brand. It was also bizarre to find the fridge completely empty. In this day and age, not stocking it with a few drinks feels like a colossal loss of revenue for them.
Breakfast (7/10) was perfectly fine, but it was the same spread every morning and nothing to write home about. And do watch out for the extras, €9 for a large bottle of still water is a bit of an ouch.
On the upside, there is a small pool on the 8th floor. Nothing fancy, but if you've got children with you, it's a good way to burn off some energy. Also, a big relief for me, the EV chargers in the underground car park were fully functioning, which saved a potential headache.
Decent enough for a short stay because of the location, but don't expect the modern comforts you might get elsewhere.
