I arrived around 8:15 pm to check in and no one was there. There was a phone to call which I did, but no one answered. We waited for 10 minutes and no one answered the phone or came.

Upon arriving at the property we saw someone leaving a hotel room on the first floor via the rear room window. First red flag. Driving around to the front to check in and we saw several individuals smoking while walking in and out of their rooms (this was supposed to be a designated non-smoking facility). Second red flag. Upon entering the lobby there was mass confusion with other patrons. The staff seemed utterly confused and disoriented. Third red flag. We opted to not check in as the property felt completely unsafe and poorly managed. We have contacted the property broker for a refund and recommended they remove the property from their listings due to the unsafe nature of the entire property. DO NOT STAY HERE.

First stay with EconoLodge.

Building is older and has had some wear and tear. I noted an air cleaner in the bathroom ceiling that is WAY past due for replacement or cleaning. Linens were all newer and clean. Room had a balcony which was a nice extra. Motel is close to the nicely developed downtown area. Easy walking distance for most folks.

Property is an older building and within walking distance of the Southbridge Mall and Hockey arena. Although the mall doesn't have much in it anymore. Parking lot was well lit at night and staff was helpful. Room was clean and ready for arrival, but it had a bit of a stale musty smell. Refrigerator and microwave in room worked fine. For the lower cost and just needing a place to crash at night it worked fine. If you want a place with more frills and amenities this would not fit that expectation.

Upon first seeing the property I was very concerned about my choice. The outside of the building looks very sketchy and poor. After seeing the lobby was in decent shape and the guy behind the desk was great I felt a little better. Once I found my room was on an inside corridor behind locked doors and getting to my room and finding it in good shape I felt ok with my choice. It's not the nicest motel but my room was clean the bed made with clean sheets and was very comfortable. No problem with hot water as others have said at all. Looks like they are trying to update the place but it's going slowly.
