Great place to STAY

The owners were very nice, our room was clean and very comfy. The fire at the fire pit was friendly and very great conversation. The beach was truly a hidden treasure, so gorgeous. I would stay here again.

Sunshine Motel Shines with Private Beach

The private beach access is a hidden gem when staying at this hotel. Quiet and peaceful opportunity to sit on the small beach without a bunch of other people to simply listen and watch the water. Room was clean, quiet, and had amenities needed and the owners were very friendly.

Sunshine Motel Review

The room had a musty smell. The owners were sweet couple but had a long list of demands that required cleaning up for them upon checkout. This included stripping the bed, emptying waste baskets and sweeping floors, I never heard of a place charging $156/night and requiring cleaning up after yourself to boot! I didn’t like the weird noises the furnace made and the fridge was next to the bed so you heard it running too. The bathroom was very small with little space to hang anything, no hooks anywhere. It was clean but the shower came up to my collar bone and I’m 5 ft 5 in so not a tall person. My partner is 5’11” so had a harder time showering upper body. The bed was comfy bu squeezed a lot.

The owners are fabulous, I was trying to book again for the rest of the month of July and Tony immediately called me to let me know that they were booked for an event and could not accommodate my request. The room was comfortable, just wished there were black out curtains, it stays light late and I had difficulty sleeping.

Older motel, which was fine, but the room had a a damp musty smell. No ice machine. When I asked, the gentleman said, “I might have some ice”, and offered a little sandwich bag of ice. This was part of a 6 day UP trip and the most expensive hotel.

The property managers were very welcoming. It is a clean, comfortable and reasonably priced facility close to Ontonagon and the Porcupine Mountains. My dog was also welcome, which was a plus! I will definitely stay here again.
