First, I want to acknowledge that the staff and service were excellent — every employee we interacted with was friendly, kind, and helpful. Unfortunately, the hotel itself is in serious need of updates, and it shows.
We were only able to get the TV to work once, for about 30 minutes. After that, it wouldn’t turn on, even though the remote lit up and the TV power light was on. The internet was only available for a brief moment before cutting out. With only one elevator in service, the wait to get on was often long and frustrating, especially during busy times. The chair in our room was broken — the back would collapse onto you the moment you sat down.
The condition of the room was disappointing. There were water spots on the ceiling, trash left on the box holding the curtains, and more trash behind the dresser. The phone didn’t work at all, meaning we couldn’t call the front desk. Using our cell phones wasn’t an option either — there was no Wi-Fi and barely any cell service to make a call.
The location is a mixed bag. The hotel sits in a run-down, dirty, and somewhat sketchy area. While a vibrant, up-and-coming neighborhood with great restaurants, some shopping, and a lively atmosphere is only about a quarter of a mile away, the walk there felt sketchy enough that we chose to drive instead. Once you reach that area, it feels like you’re in a completely different world.
