Location, location, location

Location was perfect. Just yards away from the gig venue. Car park very close by. Very friendly staff. Stored our bags for us as we arrived too early to check in. Took £100 room deposit. Room very tired really..In need of renovation. For price of room not sure it was good value for money. Very hot weather and no fan or A/C Bed ok, pillows not good quality.. Only one towel in the room on arrival. Shower good and powerful Very good freshly cooked breakfast..

The man who checked us in was great. Really friendly and polite. Hotel is great for the peace hall. No pillow protectors and pilllows were a little worse for wear. Generally the hotel was clean. The room we stayed in was dated but fine. For the price i would stay again if visiting the peacehall.

The hotel was was significantly overpriced for the standard offered. The room was very small for a double, it was difficult to get to one of the windows as there was not enough room to get round the bed. The standard of decor was poor in the room, damaged wall where something had clearly been removed and the wall covering not repaired. The carpets on the upper floors were filthy. The ground floor had been refurbished but was uninspiring. The bar staff seemed very inexperienced, not knowing how to serve basic drinks. The bar was poorly stocked and some people just gave up and went to their rooms to drink due to the absence of basic supplies (e.g. no white wine). People who had waited in the lobby for quite a while were told at 3 p.m. that their rooms were not ready. Reception was not manned until 3 p.m. on the dot so nobody was warned that their room might not be ready. In a good hotel the receptionist will allow people to check in early if the room is ready but this was not an option here even though they could see the number of people waiting. You got the impression that none of the staff had worked in a hotel before.

Didn’t like advising they had a bar and restaurant which was closed you should not have to pay £100 deposit on arrival

Very dated rooms and facilities once out of the reception. Bathrooms could do with refurbishment. Window glass replaced with two bits that didn't fit to fill hole.

Great location

This was our second stay and the hotel is undergoing refurbishment. The location is excellent if visiting the Piece Hall. Parking is opposite hotel and costs £5 now. This is good value locally. There is no restaurant or bar at the moment but there are lots of places very close by so not a problem. Our room was clean and the very springy bed turned out to be surprisingly comfy! Water pressure in the shower was so hard that the shower head wouldn’t stay on the wall and there was no hairdryer but these were our only issues. The hotel is good value for a one night stay and we would stay again without hesitation. Staff are lovely and willing to help in anyway. Hotel feels safe too.

No... Just no!

Shabby, dirty, noisy and uncomfortable. No food or drink available and the parking is a rip off. It is undoubtedly convenient for the central attractions but I would urge you to avoid this place and save yourself the angst and aggravation.

The website is very misleading. Our room was very basic and badly in need of some tlc.Bathroom the same with mould on the ceiling and wire dangling from the ceiling where the smoke alarm should have been! Hotel should be done for false advertising

Location as we attended a concert at piece hall within walking distance, staff friendly and welcoming. Property room poor, loo seat moved from side to side wife nearly fell off, shelf by bed wife put her phone on it and it fell off wall on one side. Parking on site none, over the road witch wasnt to bad but extra charge of £5 not expected no meals or bar facilitys as still under renovation. Disapointed
Phillip, 1-night trip

2/10 Poor

Had to pay £100 deposit, shower curtain wire was broken and left with sharp edge. They said would fix but never did. Unfinished fittings on lights was hanging off. Varnish on table damaged by coffee mug.

Dirty & Disgusting

For a hotel that has been closed for 6 months for refurbishment you might expect a few teething problems. What you don’t expect is broken glass on the bathroom floor (resulting in injury), a room that was so filthy that we were able to write the word dirty on the bathroom mirror in the muck, stained carpets that have been down at least 20 years and furniture that is old, dated and well past it’s best. Now add in that the kitchen isn’t open, nor the bar, and staff are clueless and you’ll start to get the picture. Halifax itself is fabulous but do not stay here under any circumstances.

Better than others say

Hotel reception area nice, although the front door was shut so we thought we had the wrong entrance. Seemed a bit odd. Receptionist was lovely. Room smallish, overlooking pub which was a bit noisy but noise is expected in a town centre. Bathroom had a couple of broken tiles but clean. Carpet in bedroom a bit freyed. Furniture a bit dated, however the bed was comfortable and the pillows good also. Only 1 towel on bed but second one was in the wardrobe. Toilet paper poor quality. They do provide toiletries though. Room has a kettle and Yorkshire tea, also biscuits. TV large. Having read reviews onTrip Advisor we were quite concerned but decided to keep the booking. Glad we did as none of the issues were huge. Hotel has free Wifi, a bar and restaurant. The offsite car park deal is excellent value. Halifax is a lovely town and we enjoyed ourselves.

No aircon

The staff were all friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel was great, right outside the station and next to the Piece Hall. Unfortunately the hotel is not equipped for heatwaves. At any other time, I'm sure a stay would be adequate. On this occasion, the room was unpleasant due to the heat. A fan was provided, but did not make a lot of difference.

Good location for Piece Hall

We stayed for one night as a couple, we had tickets to see a band at the Piece Hall. The location is next to the venue, the room itself was dated, but it was clean and comfortable and the staff were very friendly. Would stay again.
