Great place to golf and food was excellent

8/10 Very good

Our stay was towards the end of a 10 day road trip through Ireland and I was really looking forward to staying at Mount Juliet Estate. Website and booking sites show a huge old manor house but our accommodation ended up being in a Marriot on a golf course. I wouldn't consider it a 5 star hotel. The room was a good size, the bed was comfortable however the bathroom was shabby, dirty and the door didn't close properly. Breakfast was included and had a good selection.

Oh my goodness...our 2nd time to stay here, and both times have been superb! This hotel is a hidden gem, and we love staying here whenever we get the opportunity. We purposely find a reason to stay in Kilkenny because of this hotel. Golf course is awesome! Staff is great! We ate in the bar at the manor house the first night, food was delicious. We arrived to the hotel over an hour late, but they made accomodations for us to eat, and never acted put out about this. We only stayed 2 days, but in hindsight, I wish we had stayed 4. Visited the stables, rode bikes, ate, drank, played golf...and had a good nights sleep! Beds are very nice! Can't wait to return!

The hotel grounds are huge and perfect for exploring. There are bikes outside the courtyard you can use for free. Hunters yard is a more modern stay and the manor is more classic. Pool is lovely with loungers to relax on.
