Having an actual onsen bath on the balcony in our room was 100% an absolute treat. Otherwise, the rooms were very stylish and well appointed and we liked the futon style bed. It’s quite a quiet hotel and about an £8 taxi ride out of town but, we had no issues getting a taxi and actually the mud bath was only a short taxi ride away. If you were looking for somewhere peaceful with beautiful views over the bay then this is the place for you. As with many Japanese hotels, the staff spoke limited English and there was nothing that using Google translate couldn’t handle. Recommended.

Tasteful hotel with great hot springs amenities

Enjoyed a relaxing stay and made the most of the personal onsen (hot springs tub) attached to our room. The room was spacious with a great view and comfortable bed and pillows. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating. I recommend getting the “half board” meal plan so you can enjoy breakfast and dinner at hotel, especially as it’s far from town and the food is quite good. Highly recommend!

Property was a bit difficult to get to and in a location not near other attractions (except for the beppu ropeway area). The hotel itself was excellent. The concept was unique and the rooms were great. It was fun discovering and enjoying all the artwork hidden throughout the hotel grounds. Breakfast and dinner options were both diverse and delicious.
