The Hotel Compostela it is very centrally located, easy access to the cathedral and surrounding areas like plaza de Galicia, Mercado de Abastos and Santiago de Compostela train station. The staff is very knowledgeable and the facilities are very clean and comfortable. Overall it is a great hotel to enjoy while staying in Santiago.

Stay in Santiago

Staff was excellent, everyone was very nice. The hotel itself was clean and in good condition, but pretty straightforward without a lot of embellishments. No pictures on walls, no color in the rooms. Rather bland for a four star hotel. Breakfast was OK, but a little underwhelming, also. But, we certainly had enough to get the day started. Location of hotel was very good.

I am not sure where the hotel gets its rating from. The front desk staff is a tough one to call. One person was just angry every time we interacted, another was an angel, a third was indifferent. The physical property is far below a four star standard, but it is adequate overall. There is no parking associated with the hotel. Not even a place to pull you car into to drop your bags off or load them in when you are leaving. Staff was absolutely no help here. The only thing going for the hotel is its location. If you stay here, make sure it is at a steep discount.
