The Baymont location in Smithfield NC is not up to the standards of the Baymont brand. The rooms are suffering from benign neglect. Broken lights, dangerous electrical connections, microwaves removed, stolen hair dryers, beat up furniture. I suspect that Baymont bought this hotel from another hotel chain. To their credit, they did have a nice breakfast. The young lady that was the night manager was very accomodating. The housekeeping staff needs to be fired and/or the manager. Room deficiencies must be found by staff and documented on incident reports so that building maintenance people can address.The outside of the building is dirty. Cigarette butts, etc. all over. Major corporate scrutiny is needed.

The location is generally ok and we’ve stayed in this area previously, but not this location. The room had toilet paper in the peephole because it was broken, the bottom of the door was so rusted that some of it had broken off and you could see outside and feel the wind. There was a giant hole in the wall. When my husband went out to walk the dog at 6am, he found someone who was looking in cars and then took off when he saw my husband. I would NOT stay here again and would not recommend it. We were traveling through and it was similar in price to the other hotels in the area but had a cheaper pet fee, so I selected it, but I would definitely pay the higher pet fee next time.
