Staying at Barcelo Aruba

Location is great and staff very nice and friendly. The manager Servin was great and help us out by upgrading our room because we had issues with the our room, I think he’s a great manager knows how to please customers even though we didn’t ask him to upgrade our room but he did it which is awesome and makes the customer feel home. We did appreciate that move from a great manager and staff.

Room was good and last minute Due to the timing of my arrival and check in The best part for me was the Japanese hibachi dinner for my birthday … ambiance , staff and food was amazing. Breakfast was always great … the beach was something I truly enjoyed. The entertainment was ok but not something I’d go for. The massage was needed for this birthday trip

Bed bug

Our stay started well until Day two my partner noticed bites which he thought was mosquito bites. Day 3 he noticed more bites. We checked the sheets. Which we should have done day 1 but we were thinking this is a nice hotel and did not see anything. He was still getting bit so we looked again and there it was a bed bug clear as day. We made a video and took pictures and immediately went to the front desk to advise them of this issue. The Manager acted quickly and was accommodating and moved us to a new room but it took about 3 hours for them to get the room ready. So we waited and waited. I requested our clothes be washed which they agreed to. I appreciate the room change, however my partner walking around with bed bug bites to his face, nose, arms and back.I requested compensation for the time that was taken away from what should have been such a wonderful time. I waited to see if hotel would respond favorably. I did get an email 3 days later stating they would reimburse for one day and then the next day they changed the response to no compensation because there were no bed bugs after pest control investigated. So I believe they think we brought the bugs and faked the whole ordeal because I was told.. “Under no circumstances were there bed bugs in the room. So that is how this was handled. I felt insulted and upset that I was treated like I stayed at a 2 star hotel.

We recently stayed at Barcelo Aruba as a couple and unfortunately, our experience did not meet expectations. From the moment we arrived, the front desk staff were noticeably unfriendly and unwelcoming — not the warm greeting you’d hope for when starting a vacation. The resort itself feels very dated and in serious need of upgrades. Our room was only stocked with one towel for two people, and despite calling for another, it took over an hour for it to be delivered. Simple necessities like the Wi-Fi passcode or towel cards were not included in the welcome envelope, leaving us confused and having to chase down basic information. There were also clear maintenance issues throughout the property. There was a leak directly above one of the cook stations, which felt unsanitary and unsafe. On the 4th floor where we stayed, the hallways smelled like sewage, and there were towels scattered on the floor to catch leaks — not exactly the relaxing atmosphere we were hoping for. The pool area was also overcrowded, and we struggled to find chairs daily. The pool itself is quite small for the number of guests the resort accommodates. Even the fridge in our room was understocked, with not enough bottled water for two people. Overall, we were disappointed with the quality of service, cleanliness, and upkeep of the resort. For the price and the Barcelo brand, we expected much more. We would not return or recommend this resort to others.

This was my 1st time in Aruba, I was told it was amazing. My experience in resort left a bad impression on people of Aruba, some staff members were rude. No microwave area. You have to pay for room service in an all-inclusive. I could not take any food from restaurants back to my room. My daughter got food poisoning, and I could not bring her a soup. I am on a 6 small meal diet and that was not accommodated. Pool in the afternoon filled with Debrie & floating cups, drinks by pool watered down. night events scheduled for 10pm. Reservation for all restaurants needed except buffet. Japanism restaurant preferred to throw out uneaten meal then have you take it with you, no alcohol bar in room. Overall, not what I had in mind, prices over inflated. Great things- beach is amazingly beautiful, great air conditioning in room. Beautiful rock display by buffet area where lizards make home. Ceasar bartender by the bar was the friendliest and kindest. Waiter at seafood restaurant who went out of his way to give us desert to take back with us to room.

Buffet was aweful. You have to pay for room service, which I’ve never had to do before. Only one person working the front desk, room was freezing & we called 4 times; no one ever came. They are VERY stern about the number of towel cards you get-no card =no towel, you lose the card, key or wrist band there is a healthy fee for each one. Dinners-were actually good, however you have to make reservations as soon as you get there. Very safe as there is security. Oh, if you want a bungalow or a chair at the beach, better get there around 5 am. Beach is stunning, resort not so much. We were there from 6/15-6/21/25. Would not recommend this “resort”.

The bathroom sinks had faucets too short for the sink so as you opened the faucet, water soaked the counter top. Also too difficult to get your hands under the faucet to clean your hands. The food was not good even at the Japanese restaurant, the Royal level restaurant, and common buffet on the property. If you want good cuisine, best to go local. The iron board was a table top board. Making it difficult to iron dresses and long pants. Unusual from most other resorts we’ve booked through Expedia. We were upgraded to Royal level. There were a few enhanced features we weren’t made aware of causing us to nearly miss out on the benefits. Our ceiling fan wasn’t working. We called for maintenance who was unable to repair it. He told us he would have a specialist tend to it. No one showed up and the fan remained nonfunctional. My last gripe is at the common buffet, you have to stand on line to wait to be seated which is ok but most guests did not know this and sat anywhere. The seater asked them to get up only to place them in the adjacent table in the same area. The price is good. The staff was great but we’ve decided we would check out another all inclusive resort when we return to Aruba.

Overworked staff. Short staffed after new management took over. This was told to us by staff members directly. Don’t know the manager’s name my husband and I complained to, but he just walked away instead of listening. Complained to the front desk and received a little card asking how they could help make our stay better. Maintenance was finally sent to the room 2 days later. My husband and I were getting ready to go out when maintenance came. Because of this they never came back and nothing was fixed our whole stay. Unfortunately, I can’t upload a video showing the safe damage, closet sliding door damage and the sliding door damage along with the difficulty opening and closing to get in and out of the super narrow balcony. The room smelled musty due to the AC system. The pictures show rusty and moldy lamps. Feel bad about staff because they are working hard, while I saw several managers sitting and eating for an hour on separated occasion’s.

We loved our stay at Barcelo for our 20th Anniversary. The location is perfect, nightlife right across the way. The pool and beach just behind the property was perfect for walks, swimming and bars. The food at the resort was excellent and everyone at the resort was nice and helpful. Awesome vibe, drinks and location. Must do the Royal Package which definitely sets it apart evwn further. Full concierge and Royal Club access 24hrs. Tha k you Barcelo, we fell in love with Aruba from the Sin City.
