Place a little rundown, but room was clean, and comfotable and price was right. Staff outstandingly helpful. She went way above and beyond the call of duty to sort out reservation issues for me.

Not bad for the price

Bed was comfortable, decor was beautiful. Great customer service however there was dust built up on the lamps and behind the doors. Mold was growing above the shower

2/10 Poor

the room was filthy, no screen on the window, no elevators and we were on the 3rd floor. You could enter the building without a key. Horrible place to stay.

BED BUGS

Well I just stayed 11/25 - 11/27 @ Super 8 in Ames. It was a decent stay until I discovered a couple days later that they gave me BED BUGS. I am SO Pissed & Mentally exhausted from the lack of sleep due trying to figure out how I am gonna get rid of the damn things.

Followed reviews for this property. Not at all what expected for a horribly high price. Shower passable, but my 19 yr old grandson Refused to use - went to Hampton for shower (other family members were there). AND he wouldn’t spend 2nd nite either - too warm, soft mattresses. He wouldn’t stay either. Back to the Hampton again!!! Just under $480 for 2 nites - would sure like a refund!!! PATHETIC tiny breakfast room - went out to eat instead!!! NEVER, NEVER AGAIN!!!!!

Disgusted

Apart from the room/hotel being dirty the staff had difficulty speaking English. I could not wash or take a bath as there were no stoppers/plugs for the bath or the sink. The reception did not know what I was talking about even when I showed them the problem. They were from Bangladesh. I should really have my money returned. The only way you can improve this property is to demolish it and rebuild.

8/10 Very good

When choosing a motel, I don't often go for the cheapest in the area, but this time I didn't expect to spend much time there, and decided to take a chance. I showed up right at the 3:00 check-in time. My room wasn't ready yet, but the desk clerk quickly recognized that walking and stairs aren't the easiest thing for me. She called housekeeping to have them get a room ready on the lower level (fewer stairs) and near the entrance (less walking). I asked whether I could leave some things in the room, and she asked me to put them in a room by the office. She checked my ID and took my Credit Card. She handed me the car-info form, and indicated a small table where I could sit to fill it out. I did so, and went to get the cooler I didn't want left in the car. It was heavy and awkward, and as she saw me coming through the door, she rushed out to take it from me, promising to keep it safe until my return. I left to visit friends. During dinner, I got a call letting me know I had neglected to retrieve my credit card, and that she would hold it for me until my return. When I got back after 10:00, she recognized me, and handed me the CC and my room card. She had already taken my cooler to the room! It may have been the cheapest lodging, but I've never had a warmer, more genuine, enthusiastic, and helpful welcome anywhere I've stayed. The motel itself is dingy and dated (hence the low price), but clean and neat; obviously well managed.

I booked at least 2 weeks in advance and then got a call in the afternoon on our first day asking if we were still coming. I said yes, and gave an approx time we would be there. So we got there that evening to check in and I had accidentally booked a handicapped room. The guy at the desk says they no longer have any handicapped rooms. I'm like that's fine because I didn't intend to book one (I looked at my reservation and I did accidentally select that). But what if I had not done that on accident? What if I had needed an accessible room? At no time during the previous call did the employee ask about the type of room I needed and I did confirm that we were not canceling. So I told the man at the desk, that's fine it just needs to be a no-smoking room with a queen size bed. That's what I booked. He gives us our keys and we walk into a room with 2 twin size beds. So we go back and I ask again to get the room we booked, no-smoking with 1 queen size bed. We get new keys and walk into a room with 1 double bed. I realize I could have gone back, but I didn't go on vacation to keep having to explain to a hotel employee that I'm not getting what I booked. So we decide a double will be fine. The room was incredibly humid so we are either freezing or everything is damp and clammy. The bathroom door neither latches or locks. The bed was lumpy and uncomfortable. And paint was peeling off the walls. To the staff's credit the place was clean. Will never stay here again.

Not handicap accessible for other floors, had bugs crawling around ceiling, walls and on the bed with dead bugs on the floor. Did not get room that I had booked due to not being handicapped accessible, not willing to accommodate, came in and said $10/pet and had bunnies in cages that were trying to stay warm. When saw pet friendly there was no mention of charging that I saw. They told me I cannot release bunnies in the room or get them out of cage), wouldn't believe us about the bugs and said needed pictures but never took any. Said window must be open to have them come in but made my daughter check as they didn't want to come in themselves. Window closed. Gave us a new room, briefly looked it over and left. Floors were dirty along with part of the tub. Ceiling had brown splatters along with a little of the wall. Cigarette burn on the cover. Light switch on wall controlled the power to the outlets and on the lamps. Had to leave lights on. Person wouldn't talk to me and would direct to my daughter as I was disabled and couldn't speak. Didn't matter if I wrote things down since they didn't understand sign language. Had walker and they made me feel discriminated. In the morning, had to return key cards to them prior to checking out and if not will get charged. In first room, fridge wouldn't close as it was frozen open and broke. Had I known I was going to have all these problems, I would have cancelled the reservation and went elsewhere.

The fact that they never asked us if we wanted our room cleaned and serviced which should be standard so we came back to nothing cleaned. Then they tell us it is due to them being worried about being accused of their staff stealing is very concerning. Who do you have working there. Then like every other room had room numbers on the doors like people were living there or something weird was happening. They claimed they were being worked on. I work in the industry and never in my life have i seen that. Seems like a shady location

Smaller room. Air conditioner was noisy and could hear something like the ice machine all night long. Did ok in a pinch but would choose differently next time. Price was definitely too much for such a hotel-but it was a game weekend.
I think it was clean, just didn’t look that way.
