8/10 Good

the place definitely has character and is unique - you really feel like you are in a historic building - the rooms are clean, location is perfect - they didnt modernize it all up so it feels very real which i think is cool and price is reasonable

10/10 Excellent

I really like the European style rooms. It was nice to have the bay view room too while the Mendocino music fest was happening. I probably wouldn’t have enjoyed my stay as much if I wasn’t facing the water, so thanks for that. Would come back.
Alaa, 1-night trip

6/10 Okay

The hotel is quite run down.
Margo, 1-night trip

10/10 Excellent

The view was outstanding. There are walking paths near the water. Our desk assistant recommended a great place to eat. The hotel is from 1878 and has all that charm. The lobby and bar (which is closed) has beautiful woodwork. The property is under new owners and they are planning a renovation. I hope they maintain the look and feel of an old inn.
Christine, 1-night trip

4/10 Poor

Old carpets everywhere. Smelled very bad. It is 1900 built hotel. Location is good across the ocean and walking distance to all resturants.
Paul, 2-night trip

10/10 Excellent

Large room, with fireplace. Closing for renovations under new ownership. Clean, newer bathroom. Large closet, Close parking. Lobby smelled or marijuana every time (3) I was there. No bar or restaurant on site, but close by options were good, varied, and numerous. I will return after renovations are complete.,
Alan, 2-night trip

8/10 Good

Property is an old Victorian era hotel. It is very good condition for it's age but it is in need of some TLC. As I understand it, the place will be closed soon for an extensive renovation. I surely hope that the Victorian charm and furnishings (as well as the stained glass on display throughout) are to return post reno. The staff was very accommodating and gave excellent service as well as suggestions for dining.

4/10 Poor

The Mendocino Hotel used to be outstanding. Great restaurant, quant rooms. Restaurant and bar are closed now. Lobby was dark and uninviting.. We waited 10 minutes for a staff person to check us in. The room was shabby-holes in the wall, frayed lampshade. Flimsy blanket. It needs a major facelist. Don't go. At $240 a night it was a total rip-off.
Lana, 1-night trip

8/10 Good

Great old hotel that's rough around the edges but that a small bit of renovation would't fix. Heard that a reno is in the works so hopefully won't destroy the old-time ambience. So don't expect a banal Wyndham experience, instead a throwback in time.
Ronald, 1-night trip

4/10 Poor

The property is gorgeous, but the bed felt like I was sleeping on a piece of lumber. My daughter's bed was equally "firm" with the added feature of a permanent indentation in the center that she could not escape.
Dawn, 1-night trip

8/10 Good

Nice hotel to stay to enjoy Mendocino and its zrea
Felix, 1-night trip

6/10 Okay

Excellent location with easy access to beach, Headlands State Park coastal bluff trail and the vibrant downtown shops, restaurants and bars. But the hotel itself needs attention. Our garden suite was large and had a newly-renovated bathroom, but the bathroom counter was cracked and we had an ant problem. The bed was comfortable but stark - a sheeted mattress over exposed box springs. Our antique light fixture had burned out lights and the room smelled a little musty. No breakfast option (the hotel restaurant and bar look amazing but closed for Covid and have not reopened). The hotel charges a premium rate and we had hoped for more. We will not return.
