I stayed at this Motel 6 in Grand Rivers, Kentucky, last minute while driving home from a 14-hour trip to visit family. I was exhausted and just needed somewhere to rest and reset. I chose this location mainly because I noticed they don’t charge extra for dogs in the reviews, which I really appreciated—especially since I traveled with my pup.
That said, my expectations for a Motel 6—ESPECIALLY in BFE, Kentucky— were already low, and unfortunately, this stay still fell short. After getting somewhat settled, I noticed the room door looked like it had been previously kicked in. It was bent at the bottom, leaving a visible gap. I didn’t feel entirely safe, but I thought perhaps it would be fine for one night as I was very tired and didn't feel like making a fuss over it.
Next, I went to take a shower (after cleaning it with bleach), and the drain was clogged. The water filled up around 5–6 inches before I even got in. I called the front desk, and a younger staff member came by. He was somewhat polite but told me they couldn't move me to a different room. Despite them having open rooms, he said my dog might bark and disturb the other guests. I tried to assure him that the only time my dog might bark is when someone knocked on the door and that she wouldn't be an issue, however he told me they still couldn't move me.
I asked if I could pay extra to switch to a better room, and he agreed to check. He came back and said I could move a couple doors down for $20 more. I checked the
