Didn't hit the mark.

Disappointing. Room was tiny and cramped. There was underwear from previous guest left on floor beside bed, bottom sheet did not fit bed. Both reported to front desk. Could clearly hear the music from the pub downstairs and we were on level 5. Staff were excellent both at reception and in restaurant but won't be back.

Disappointment

The bedroom was lovely. I wasn't pleased that a member of staff helped themselves to my drink in the room. After bringing this to the attention of the duty manager, they apologised and offered us complimentary breakfast. I looked forward to the breakfast as a token of apology, however, for a 5 star hotel, i expected fast better service and quality. The breakfast at the many cafes in the area offered a better service and at half the price. I'd stay at the hotel again, for the quality and location, but i did expect a lot more from a high quality hotel that i had stayed at before.

We enjoyed an excellent 3 nights. Close to the CBD and the tram service which is fantastic for getting to the beach. We recommend the restaurant on the top floor which is outstanding. Great food with first class service.

Crystalbrook Kingsley Newcastle

We had high expectations after seeing the hotel on Travel Guides. I will start with the downsides, there were a couple of long strands of black hair on our bed, must be from the lady who serviced the room. The toilet seat is a bit high for comfort and the room at 29m is definitely on the small side, though big enough for a short stay. There was no pool or even a gym room which is a big disappointment for a 5 star hotel. Also no hotel lobby for easy parking and $50/night for parking is way too much when there is free night parking right outside. We liked the separate toilet from the bathroom, appreciated the free movies on offer. Loved the views from the buffet breakfast Roundhouse, can never get tired of that. We also liked the free filtered water station on each level, this is a big bonus and great for the environment, wish every luxury hotel had this feature. Overall a nice stay and would recommend it if you come to Newcastle as there really isn't much option for 5 star hotels in this city.

Disappointing Stay at Crystalbrook Kingsley

I previously had a great experience at Crystalbrook Kingsley during a business trip, so I was looking forward to my stay this time. Unfortunately, it didn’t live up to expectations. The room configuration was a bit unusual but manageable. However, the bed was not comfortable, which made for a restless nights. I was also surprised to find that there were no robes or slippers in the room. After requesting them, only one set was provided. Another frustration was the lack of a bottle opener in the mini bar. I called to request one, but it took over an hour to arrive. By that point, I had already gone up to the rooftop bar to ask the bartender for help. Overall, a disappointing experience compared to my previous visit. I expected better attention to detail, especially for a hotel of this standard.

Disappointing Bar experience .

The hotel itself was perfect in terms of location and cleanliness. However we where extremely disappointed with the service we received in the bar. We had arranged to meet fellow residents there for for drinks at 9.30 pm and were informed by a very rude host that we needed to book in advance - the bar was half empty. It took time to convince her to let us stand at the bar and was asked by two other staff members if the host had allowed us to stand there.? Eventually we did get a seat and ordered a drink. But we felt unwelcome in the bar of the hotel we were residents in which tainted out stay . Terrible policy there should be seats at bar for walk ins or at the very least this policy should be explained at check in .

Firstly the staff at check in were excellent and secondly the room was lovely. The decor is stunning both in the foyer and the room. Everything was beautiful. Check out the next day was quick and easy. It was our first visit to Newcastle and will definately be back to stay for longer to be able to try the different styes of restaurants close to the hotel and take the walks around the parks. Can't wait
