While not our preferred chain and not the one we have stayed in Newcastle. We gave it a try due to its location. No fault from car park to the lobby. Check-in was ok but their card machine doesn’t take contactless/apple pay, got me fetching for. physical card. Up to the room and that’s when the bad started. The whole place is in need of a full make over/renovation. The cleanliness of the room is filthy, dust in every corner, lamp shed and even a sock was found just under the bed base. A big hole in the bottom of the TV cabinet which could be a mini bar removed. That theme continues into the bathroom, dust/hair can easily be found. Other than clean towels and toiletries that you’d least expect, that’s it. One thing was a plus, the view.
Breakfast was below average too, lots of staff that was the only plus. Little selection from continental and fruits (from can). Same on hot food, just the basic and scrambled eggs is worst than holiday inn (fry eggs can be ordered), you won’t get a full English that’s for sure. Pastry looks dull and cold. Various types of bread on offer.
We did use the pool and changing room facility. Again the age of the hotel is shown here, it is better maintained when compared to the rooms. Overall just below the Hilton standard and I will not return.
