The Numa Hotel Checkpoint Charlie has a lot going for it—namely a truly fantastic location and a very nice building. The room itself was nicely designed and well-equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay.
Unfortunately, the hotel completely failed on basic cleanliness and customer service. Upon checking in, we found the carpet in our room to be incredibly dirty. There was also an extra single bed taking up space that we didn't need.
We contacted the staff to ask for the carpet to be cleaned and the extra bed to be removed. They initially offered us a room change, but because we were only staying for a short time, we didn't want the hassle of packing up and moving. We reiterated our request for the cleaning and the bed removal, and we were explicitly assured that both would be taken care of.
Nobody ever came. The bed was left in the room, the carpet remained filthy, and the hotel provided absolutely zero follow-up communication to check if the situation had been resolved.
It is incredibly frustrating to be made a promise by hotel management only to be completely ignored. A nice building and a great location cannot make up for a lack of basic follow-through but overall we enjoyed our stay. Berlin is fantastic and kept us positive even with the poor response from the hotel. We still slept well which is the main thing.
