I am so happy with my stay here in San Diego. The hosts are all so fun and chill, very hospitable. Breakfast each morning was so fresh, cool people I happened to run into so the energy was great. Love the showers, lots of space at the outdoor areas, living room and common areas. Laundry is also available. Also the food near was walkable. The tacos at Don Tommy's highly recommended too! I will gladly come back.

This place was a lucky find. Very friendly community, clean and colorful, and hospitable. Great for a first visit to the city. Close to airport too. Staff was responsive and helpful. Please be aware that this is a hostel with shared rooms and bathrooms, but it is a delightful spot for the single traveler.

Great hostel for a great price!

We had an amazing experience at California dream Hostel. We stayed in a private room and everything was clean and well organized. Staff was very friendly and helpful as well. Safe area and free parking! The hostel is located close to an airport so we heard planes all the time. The room wasn’t soundproof but that is really the only negative aspect. Overall a great stay! Will definitely visit again!

You see what you get in the photos. Everyone is nice. Use common sense and you won’t have issues. I say that because it’s not a hotel; it’s a hostel. This was my first hostel experience and I was pleasantly surprised. I grew up in the area, so I’m a little biased and know what to expect from the neighborhood. The staff is nice and your basic needs are met. The breakfast was a bit of a disappointment, but also, you’re only paying $30-something to ~ $46 per night to stay in a beach town neighborhood. Notes: - bring your own blow dryer and toiletries. Towels too (they charge $5 for towels and they aren’t that big). - dress warm at night because it’s by the beach and the windows are open (long sleeves and sweats). - they have quiet hours. The only noise that woke me up at night was the temperature and hearing airplanes. I closed the window the next night when a roommate said she was cold too. I also brought ear plugs and headphones. - the blanket and sheets are thin. Again, dress warm and cozy at night. - surprisingly big kitchen and big fridge. Go to the grocery store and cook there.

Awesome Hostel in San Diego in great location!!

AMAZING hostel in San Diego just 10-15 minute drive to Gaslamp, beaches, Balboa Park, Zoo. My date and I were in a private room with a king sized bed and mini refrigerator. Everything was clean, the staff were very nice and helpful, the doors are all electronic. There are lockers for guests staying in the dorms/shared bedrooms. They have a large kitchen to store your food and cook with free breakfast items. The bathrooms and showers were very clean and spacious. The whole place feels renovated and updated but people walking the halls and opening doors is loud and can wake you up, so bring your ear plugs (I do this for all hostels). We really liked it and will be back, even for a solo trip. There seemed to only be street parking available so read the signage. Important note: only non-san diego county residents can stay here, you have to show your drivers license or id to prove you live outside SD county. If you only have a passport I believe you need to show your travel tickets (plane/bus/train) to next destination.

Overall great setup. Lots of lil amenities. Staff was friendly and accommodating. The down side was not having a fan or individual AC in the room(private). The room was just muggy. Opening the window didn't help with the airport and condensor units right outside. Barely my second stay at a hostel. But i noticed the lack of group activities, maybe just the off season. Idk. But would definitely stay here again.
