So the pool is completely out of use. One finds this out by a sign at check-in. I would have chosen a different hotel, had I known. We went there specifically for the use of the pool. The property was slightly run down; tears in wallpaper, simple things like that. I felt I should have had a partial refund for the pool area being completely closed, but no. The breakfast was nice, however.

We came for a girls trip to spend time in the pool and relax at “the cottages” at Stoney creek. When we arrived we were told the pool and hot tub are closed for renovation, the reservation can not be changed because it it’s to close to the check-in time so we would be fully charged. The room we booked was to have a balcony or patio, it did not. We did not stay. Returned keys and left. Very disappointing.

Loved our visit. We usually stay here when we go to Iowa, but our last visit was terrible. Unfriendly staff made sure we went somewhere else. I contacted corporate, and they said changes were being made at the property, so I thought we'd give it another shot. I'm glad we did. Friendly folks from the front desk to the housekeeping staff. Carpets and amenities are being updated. A+++ and we will stay there again!
