Location AND a view

We had a great stay. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The view is spectacular and it is fairly quiet. We would have preferred to be able to turn the air on but the unit had not been switched to cool yet so that is our only “complaint” if we had to find one. In all, the location is amazing and the support staff are all wonderful.

DO NOT take a room on the top floor!! Specifically rooms 401/402/403. Risky in rooms 301/302/304. Even the second floor poses its risks of getting no sleep. Although this hotel has a restaurant space on the ground level, they have opted to put the breakfast room on the top (5th) floor. The reasoning is that it has a view of the city and Bosporus, which it does, hidden behind a slough of not-so-pretty rooftops. What they’ve effectively done, however, is sacrificed at least 6 good rooms, for paying guests who want to sleep, in favour of a breakfast room with tiled floors and wooden chairs with nothing to dampen the sound. People, I cannot begin to describe how loud it gets. Although the location is perfect, and the staff mean so well, the no sleep factor makes the Tan Hotel a terrible choice. Also, it you have hotels.com perks, like free drinks at the property, forget about them. There’s no such thing. There’s also a very weird protruding spout in the toilets that, if you sit “wrong” will assault and sully your privates. Lastly, although breakfast is served until 11, please see the pictures of what’s left at 10.

Tan hotel is located very close to the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace and the Grand Bazar. It's good for no more than one or two nights stay. Rooms look dark, mattresses are terrible and not enough light in the bathroom

The location and the staff is what gives this hotel 4 stars, otherwise it would have been easily a three. The location is central and short walking minutes from all activities in the Fatih area. The staff were amazing, Alp, Farouk, Emre, Zeynap and the cleaning lady, all amazing and helped make our stay pleasant. Would I come back? I don’t think so. The facility needs a serious facelift to attract tourist and not worth the $240 a night!

Great place for a short stopover

Amazing location. We got a free upgrade to a room with a spa bath tub so very grateful. The bathroom is slightly gritty around the edges so could do with a more detailed clean. Breakfast options a bit limited but adequate. Great view of the blue mosque from the top floor restaurant. Beds weee super comfortable and blackout curtains worked a treat. We could hear the prayers but not enough to ruin sleep. So all in all, it’s a great hotel in the heart of the old town! Grand bazaar is maybe 15 minutes walk away and blue mosque is 5 minutes max.

Points positifs : Très bien situé pour visiter les incontournables. Personnel à la réception et au petit déjeuner très bien et parlant un bon anglais. Chambre double supérieure conforme à la description. Coffre dans la chambre. Transferts aéroport réservés via l'hôtel très pratiques. Pleins de restaurants dans le quartier. Station de tramway Sultanahmet à 3 minutes. Petit déjeuner complet au dernier étage avec terrasse et vue sur la mosquée bleue. Points négatifs : Il manque une vraie cafetière avec les différentes sortes de cafés, chocolat, eau chaude et cappuccino. Etant membre Gold je n'ai pas obtenu tous les avantages comme le surclassement et le départ tardif qui ne m'a été accordé que jusqu'à 14h.
