This Hotel was the EXACT experience we were looking for on our 15th wedding anniversary escape. Obviously the building is really old, but the owners and staff have embraced that and have harnessed the soul of the property by being true to the original spirit of the place- Things are simple and it makes sense, like how you just order and pay for food and beverage at the bar. What you really need is all there- comfort, beauty, food and wine. If you are stuck in the fast-paced pretentious world, don't come here unless you are actually going to take a deep breath and let loose because this is a place to take it easy. All of the needed updates have been made, the rooms are perfectly put together and immaculately clean. Sure there is peeling paint on the outside- reminds you to focus on the things that actually matter! We will visit again soon, that is for certain.

Great location, quiet, and roomy. Breakfast starts a bit late, if you plan on leaving in the morning like I did. And, there was not central heating, just a space heater and in wall heater. Would recommend for those who are crashing for the night and heading to Tahoe for skiing and snowboarding!

Such a beautiful old building. So many thoughtful touches. Heidi was so welcoming and knowledgeable about the history and the area. We had a magical experience and can’t wait to come back in the winter to experience it with the fireplace and the snow!
