Fun stay for a larger group. Not much to do on the property outside the cabin's Parks and attractions not far, away. Exiting the property can take some patience cars do pass by fairly quickly.

This is nice rustic property and we got lot more for what we paid compare to what would have paid to motels. Property had lot of family activities to offer as well. We wanted nice quiet get away cabin. This has perfect for that.

awesome property. the cabin we had was nice and spacious. the price was right. my kids loved it. Parking was a little tough for my oversized vehicle but otherwise it was perfect

It was an ok stay. Bared minimum: plates, cups, glasses and utensils for 2, handwash everyday. Warm temp experienced at 91 degrees, no fans. Booked and paid for 3 nights, took off and went home after 2. Please ask this property to clearly post their pet friendly policy with FEES. Credit card was charged $303 upon check in. Overall it was nice coming up to the mountain and see the lake is filled up again after the rain we had.

Some of the electrical was not working and we had a minor issue with the drains. The service was great and they responded quickly. The particular room we stayed in had a floor heater and a sharp incline on the stairs. Not recommended for small children.

The shower and sink did not drain. Shower drain was clogged with hair and had spider web's. I was not to happy with our stay.

2/10 Poor

The cabin floor was incredibly dirty. Walking barefoot and my feet turned black. Kitchen is beyond sub-par. Pots were dented, stovetop only had one working burner (the ignition spark wasn't working on the other 3). Pool was out of service even though we were told it would probably be fine by the second day of our stay. Dirty bedsheets in floor of upstairs closets. Bathrooms were very hastily cleaned, and it showed.

Not worth money. Needs major updates & cleaning.

Check in is at exactly 4pm, don't even bother trying to get early check-in. Check in went well, easy; however, we had to call a phone number and wait for exactly 4pm to get in the front office. The code to get in the cabin was easy and convenient. Parking was great. The cabin itself was spacious; however, it was not great. It was, what i call, a speed clean - just the surface cleaning. I wasn't convinced the sheets were washed, either, as they looked very used with lint and hair on the pillows - just didn't feel clean, so I slept on top of the comforter with my winter coat and a blanket from my car, and i brought my own pillow - thank goodness. There was a quarter inch layer of dust under and around the beds. There was a dirty diaper under the bed and empty water bottles. There were candy wrappers under another bed, along with the layer of dirt and dust. Lots of cobwebs, dust on some pictures and in the corners of ceiling. The bathroom was okay, except for the booger on the wall, above the toliet paper roll. There was also only 1 wash cloth, which was weird for a family cabin. The entire cabin could use an update. The cabinets are old, the light fixtures are old and dirty. The TV is about 10ft off the floor, so it was hard to watch. The cabin was well-stocked, but i didn't use anyone in the cabinetsnor drawers. I didn't want to make a fuss, as i was with my young adult children, and wanted to just enjoy our time and not spend time complaining.

4/10 Fair

Our cabin was absolutely filthy - dirty everything, caked in all corners and windows, mold in shower, spider webs, pee smell, mouse droppings in kitchen cabinets. We were the only people there, but were allowed could only have one bath towel (NO washcloths were provided)each at a time, including for use at the pool. Was told to text to exchange our bath towels after pool use. Grounds and facilities unkempt. Grey Squirrel was an extended family destination for reunions since the early 70's, and we last stayed in 2023. We then moved out of state and came back for nostalgia. What a disappointment. Do your loved ones a favor and don't subject them to this place.

Had a late check-in and Hether was an absolute doll and got to the office super quick. The property itself is beautiful...but just wait until night hits. The soft glow of lights around the property sets an amazing mood. Our cabin (Rustic Romance) was so cozy and inviting. Kichen, utensils, fridge, soap and sponges for dishes...its all there. My one and only gripe is the shower tends to get the floor wet. Other than that, this place has become our escape from city life.

The bed sheets were dirty, and the whole room smelled not very pleasant.

This was the worst place I have ever stayed at. We had no electricity for almost 2 days. Couldn’t shower couldn’t use the kitchen. Couldn’t use anything. Water was cold in the bathroom. The bed stinks so badly very uncomfortable. I would never ever go back there again.

This property is perfect for a long weekend. Has a wood burning fireplace and BBQ. Check-in was super easy and the staff was super nice. Check-out was just as easy. The grounds were kept clean. There is a gas firepit and horseshoes to enjoy and walking distance to Boulder Bay. Definitely will be staying here again.

Fires & Vacuums & no hot water and no refind

The trip started out fine, but on the first night of three nights, the fire alarms went off and learned that there was a fire in a unoccupied hotel room on the third floor, which flooded most of the hotel after the fire department showed up. They proceeded to use water vacuums to suck up the water and yell at each other at 2 AM to about 4 AM that same evening the next morning we woke up to no hot water which they said should be fixed by the afternoon at 4 PM, there was no hot water and they told us there would be no hot water for the next 10 days and to go get a hotel somewhere else or deal with cold water we asked for a refund for the first night stay and have been fighting with them ever since to get a refund so although the hotel was in a great location, the trip and the customer service or a complete and utter disaster
Robert, 2-night trip

We recently stayed at the Gray Squirrel Resort. In cabin Rustic Romance, and while the cabin was absolutely beautiful upon arrival, we were extremely disappointed with the cleanliness. As we began bringing in our luggage and settling in, we quickly noticed that the cabin was in an unacceptable state. Upon closer inspection, we discovered dirt, bugs, and even leftover items from previous guests behind nearly every piece of furniture. It was evident that the space had not been thoroughly cleaned. When we went to store our food in the refrigerator, we were shocked to find the sides covered in ants, dirt, and even dead insects. The most unsettling issue, however, was the bed. The bedding was visibly dirty, and when we pulled back the bedspread, we found stains that we could only hope were chocolate. Fortunately, we had brought our own blankets, but this was far from the comfortable and relaxing experience we had anticipated. Instead of being able to unwind, we spent a significant amount of time cleaning everything we planned to use, which was both frustrating and disappointing.

It's a decent place to stay if you are wanting a cozy cabin vibe. The property should stock more cooking implements though, and pots and pans and utensils. The kitchen is in need of a good deep cleaning. The beds are creaky. We like the layout for the 2 bedroom unit. If you have little kids that like to jump around inside the rooms and living areas, this is a good option. You don't have to worry about disturbing neighbors. Have not tried the pool. Overall, not fancy but great affordable option if you plan to be mostly out on the town or ski slopes, and not holed up inside a cabin for your Big Bear vacation.

The bed topper was so old and stiff with permanent crevices created by previous bodies. The room felt dirty and extremely dingy. The window coverings are see thru at night. No privacy
