A perfect home-base for a trip to Amsterdam!

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Calisto! Check-in was a breeze. We were able to leave our luggage with the staff at the restaurant downstairs before the official check-in time and it was in our room waiting for us when we arrived later that day. The room itself was beautifully decorated and very clean. Even though the hotel is on a lively street, the noise settles down at night so we were able to sleep quite soundly. The location is perfect, with great cafes and restaurants nearby (including the restaurant below). The staff were super friendly. All in all, it was the perfect home-base for our trip to Amsterdam!

Tiny room without tv and front desk. Disconnected from restaurant but a good location Restaurant was lovely yet ear plugs left for use did not drown the loud nusic and noise from other rooms. Reported to hotel but was told the reason was its an old hotel. Stayed 1 night...was uncomfortable and unreasonable for cost of stay

Amsterdam,

Great location, 15 minute walk from Amsterdam Central station. Used the email confirmation to open the main and room door using my phone which was a great idea. WiFi fine and room nice enough. The area is a very bike busy zone so please be careful when trying to cross the road as they will not stop even if you are on a crossing zone! The coffee shop for breakfast is directly opposite the side street and the chocolate croissants were lovely. Amsterdam central is within a 10-15 minute walk which was great and the Albert Heijn supermarket at the end of the road was great for any essentials! Was a little issue with a power socket which was loose but I informed the hotel as we checked out and they have assured me it would be fixed. We were in room 8 and the street noise wasn’t and issue as we were towards the back. Shower was great powerful and modern. No TV or fridge which was a shame but I suppose it’s just a base to get you around the city. We stayed for 3 nights before catching a plane to Aruba so was perfect for a short city break. Amsterdam is a lovely city and the people were very friendly and the motto is always ‘no problems!’ Love the city, the vibe and the location. You will love it!

Would recommend!

This is a really really lovely little gem. The area is super nice, the staff is super nice, the cleaning is super nice and the room was super nice. The only thing is that since it’s an old building, you can hear a lot from outside, but it didnt bother us. And perhaps some bigger curtains would be great (they don’t exactly cover the entire window), but I mean that’s a really small thing. I would definitely recommend to everyone and we are definitely going back!

Excellent!

Everything was excellent! The hotel room was very cozy and the staff were very kind and helpful. The location was great too. It was within walking distance to the bus, train station, and attractions like the Jordaan district with The Anne Frank House, shopping, and many restaurants and cafes nearby. The Calisto restaurant was also wonderful.

Super flot hotel, kommer gerne igen

Dejligt hotel med nem indtjekning ( digital key på telefonen), så vi så ikke meget til Noget hotelpersonale. Meget rene og super pæne værelser. Der er meget lydt på værelserne, men hotellet giver Ear plugs ud. Dejligt med kupponer til en lokal kaffe bar

Lovely hotel in a good location.

Pleasant hotel, in a street of independent shops. Nice room overlooking the street. Quieter than I was expecting but then we stayed on a wednesday. Easy walking distance to the city centre. The only thing to note is there is no reception. You are directed to the restaurant downstairs for any support. The staff in the restaurant downstairs were very helpful at check in, but later in the evening the restaurant did look to get busy.

Superbe séjour

Nous étions à Amsterdam seulement pour deux jours soit une nuit à l'hôtel Calisto et nous sommes ravis. Notre train arrivait à Amsterdam à 11h, et nous sommes directement arrivés à l'hôtel pour déposer nos bagages. Finalement, notre chambre était déjà prête, nous avons pu laisser nos bagages plus tôt ! Tout était très propre, il y avait également une bouilloire avec du café et du thé, ainsi que des boules quies au cas où il y ait trop de bruit : l'hôtel Calisto est également un restaurant, il peut y avoir du bruit (mais nous le savions au moment de la réservation), mais ça a été pour nous. Enfin, nous avons eu la belle surprise de voir que le café et les pâtisseries au petit déjeuner étaient offerts par l'hôtel en allant au café juste en face, hyper sympa ! Enfin, la déco simple a été choisie avec goût, et pareil pour le restaurant, nous n'avons pas dîné là-bas mais la prochaine fois nous le ferons. Je recommande parfaitement cet établissement !

Some Interior & Service Feedback

A few suggestions from an interior designer that travels 50% of the time: Tea Bags: Avoid open tea bags in rooms; it’s unsanitary and lacks a label. More Gezelligheid: Rooms feel bare, especially in winter. Add more cozy touches. Portable Lighting: Belhops are nice but impractical without charging cords or extra outlets. Desk Lamp: A desk lamp would improve ambiance and functionality. Shower/Bathroom: The shower is cold, slippery, and unsafe. Consider wood or rubber mats, or extend the glass to contain water and keep warmth. Trash Cans: Add a small trash can in the toilet area (there’s space) and one under the desk. Power Outlets: Install outlets near the desk and bed for convenience. Warm Touches: The room needs more warmth. Consider a notepad, Japanese catch-all, Amsterdam art book, a small bowl, natural art, or a linen-shaded desk lamp. Lobby: Create a small host stand for check-in, like Choux, to improve guest experience. Property Manager: Hire a property manager to oversee cleanliness and guest comfort. A mini hostess stand would improve service. Marketing: Advertise as a weekend stay spot, and be clear about stairs and luggage storage options for guests with mobility issues or large bags.
