6/10 Good

We booked two nights and the room size was OK, very dated decoration. Not used to a double bed when there was room for a kingsize bed, shower was trickle of water and mould between the tiles, Rubbish was still in the pedal bin in bathroom and toilet was not particularly clean. No spare toilet roll and had to go to the bar to get a replacement. Paid extra for breakfast the first morning which was disappointing so went out to find breakfast elsewhere on the second morning

Lovely country pub with rooms.

The food here is excellent and not too expensive. Room comfortable, and clean. Nice ambience, but teh main road can be a little noisy if you have to have the window open at night, goes quiet after 11.30.

Lovely staff and an excellent dinner. The hotel is newly owned and if this is the beginning can’t wait to see the end result. Set at the end of a beautiful village with ample parking and good road connections

Perfect really apart from late breakfast time

Lovely place, great food, but breakfast at 8am is too late for business folks. Also the young lady waiting on hasn't tasted all the desserts, how can she advise the customers properly?

Little gem within easy reach of Stamford

What a lovely place! Very welcoming, breakfast was excellent and the chef kindly chopped up a sausage for our dog which was a nice surprise. Our room was very spacious, ensuite shower room was fine and we had great views over fields and the river. The village is charming but be aware there are no amenities. Short drive from Stamford and Rutland Water so a great base for exploring the area. Would highly recommend.

4/10 Fair

closed accomodation

highly disappointed having booked this accomodation for a solo traveller, to receive a call several hours later to advise that the pub would not be open as it was a monday and pin code access would be available with key for room being in door. we were the only occupant within the hotel and it was a very unnerving experience. fortunately our operative on that day was a male, it wouldn't have been very pleasant if it had been a female.

Will stay again in the future.

Located at the edge of a beautiful unspoilt village. The only downside was in a summer with the need to have windows open the noise from the busy main road is loud. Other than that everything was perfect for a short stay. All staff were very friendly and helpful. The food we ordered for our evening meal was delicious as was my full English breakfast. My wife was very pleased with her continental breakfast. We recommend a walk through the village to the parish church and just a little further to the water mill.

Lovely rooms in a pub with a good restaurant. Don’t expect a quiet early night or a lie-in in the morning . The music from the pub can be clearly heard in the bedroom and comes on at 8.00 and isn’t switched off until 22.00 or even 23.00. The reaction of the owner when asked to turn the music down was “don’t know what you’re used to, that’s how we do things here in the pub”!

The staff still work for you AFTER you leave.

An excellent stay in this decent value hotel. We were on a family road trip and the staff went out of their way to ensure our stay was as pleasant as possible . This was emphasised by a telephone call to our car 20 minutes AFTER we left on our journey home . Some important medication had been inadvertently left behind and the staff were anxious to inform us as soon as possible. We were about to quickly return and retrieve the meds . Thanks again to the team .

A very disappointing experience

When booking, you are told that the restaurant is closed, but you are not made aware that the whole pub is closed and there isn't a member of staff on the premises !! We did not receive instructions on how to enter the building until we had to go to the sister pub to be given the code. We received a phone call 50 mins after the check in time !! After the first night, our room was not serviced the following day, supposedly the spare key was missing, then further services did not leave bottled water in the room. When eating in the recommended sister hotel on the Monday night ( due to restaurant being closed) at 7.00pm when we ate, nearly half of the very limited menu was not available. Hopefully we were just very unlucky with all that went wrong, but one has to worry, that in the case of fire with it not being manned, all we had was instructions to go in the car park. Who would check for missing guests?
