Picture-worthy location with beautifully appointed (albeit small vs. US) rooms and amenities. The bed was comfortable and the hotel staff were very helpful. The only thing to be aware of is that you will have to either walk 10-15 mins to get to the bridge to go over to San Marco (the heart where Doge's Palace is, etc.) or figure out the hydrofoil public transport - which is much closer but a bit confusing to figure out how to purchase/use tickets.

Staff organized to have a hotel employee accompany us to the train station in Venice to help us find and board our train. Hotel upgraded us to an amazing room overlooking the canal. For a 5-star hotel, the building is very beautiful and elegant, but the rooms are tiny and poorly finished. The attitude of the concierge staff is anything but warm and welcoming. They seem annoyed every time you ask for something. On the other hand, the restaurant staff is very kind and welcoming. Overall, not bad, but given the cost, it's definitely not worth it.

The hotel is worthy of its 5 stars other than one notable exception: the breakfast. I've had more selection and better presentation in youth hostels. Butter in the little aluminum packs, Nutella in the little plastic packs, only 2 types of cut fruits, no berries, choice of bread between hard, stone hard and chipped tooth. The vegetable omelet with every vegetable the kitchen has to offer consisted of egg (so far, so good), onion, onion, some more onion, a little onion, a lot of onion and to round it all off, onion. I'm not complaining about the onion here, it was good, just that the ratio of onion to other vegetables was too undefined. (pardon my math joke) --- Little tip: Having breakfast outside on the balcony watching the boats on the Canale Grande go up and down sounds like the perfect start to your romantic Italian vacation day, until the seagulls decide its their breakfast. And fair enough, while the breakfast isn't worthy of a 5 star hotel, its pretty decent bird food. So eat inside and then just take your coffee or glass of champagne outside after.

I would like to begin by saying that the staff at this property are absolutely lovely, and the service they deliver is excellent. They are friendly, welcoming and extremely accommodating. It was my birthday and they kindly left a slice of cake in my room. Unfortunately, the property itself does not really live up to its 5* rating. It is more like a 4* property. The rooms and décor throughout the hotel are basic. There is no feel of luxury to the property. The reception and public areas are very small and dark. The hotel advertises a fitness facility, but it is housed in the attic with no air conditioning, no water and no towels. Expecting people to exercise in such conditions in the height of summer in a city with a climate like that of Venice is simply absurd. Furthermore, it has very limited hours of operation and doesn’t actually open until 10:00!! If exercising on holiday is important to you, this is definitely not the property for you! The location of the hotel however, is quite delightful. It is situated on the other side of the Grand Canal to where the main tourist hotspots are meaning that it is peaceful and oozes local charm.

Breakfast hot food was consistently cold, very slow WiFi, no TV connectivity or on demand services, no coffee making facilities in room, limited post 10pm room service, 50euro discretionary service charge added to my bill at end of stay (cheeky) and I can’t help but feel the decor just feels like a mismatch of styles and colours.
