Nothing good to say really except the bar was OK

Grim place to stay, bathroom wasn’t clean, remnants of previous shaving round the sink/hand soap looked mouldy (if that’s a thing!) housekeeping never visited to clean the room/replace towels/replenish tea/milk etc, so had to go down at midnight when I got back to get more. Lamp didn’t work in the room, really grubby, old hairs in the corners of the room etc and cigarette butts in the window frame. Just felt really dirty here in general. Sink in bathroom blocked and water ran away sloooooooowly. Obviously heavily blocked. Key stopped working after first night, so two flights of stairs up and down twice to get into room. Good bar and live entertainment and that’s about it.

We have stayed at the Avon bridge several times now and have always had a positive experience. This time we stayed in the Priory, a separate building on the same site. Upon our arrival we were greeted courteously by reception staff. I have to say the large red bins that were next to the priory stank, but were moved later. The front door was difficult to open and staff were clearly aware this was an issue. The room was clean and quiet, which was good. However, the service in the restaurant was, frankly, some of the worst I have encountered in many years. On the two nights we stayed, it took us 3 hours to have a 2 course meal due, entirely, to pooor orgnisation. The restaurant was not very busy but we were left unattended for long periods by staff who appeared to be harrassed and 'having words' with each other several times. It spoiled an otherwise pleasant stay.

Personalet var søde og hjælpsomme. Vores værelse lå længst væk, så der var roligt. Men gulvene knirker meget. Det var varmt mens vi var i Skotland, så vinduet måtte stå åbent. Ingen aircondition. God mad på hotellet. Værelset blev ryddet op dagligt.

This is not a hotel, the place doesn’t have AC and we did not know until too late to book other place. We had to open the window all day long to get some air in otherwise we will be in the sauna. This means everyone can see us all day long even when we slept which is very uncomfortable. The hotel is very old and dirty with molds in the bathroom, the price we paid is not cheap and overprice for the place like this!! We would not recommended this hotel.

Room issues

I specifically booked this hotel for getting a twin room. Was sent an email confirming that I had a twin room. On arrival, the receptionist told me that there were only double rooms left. Very disappointing

The hotel is certainly looking dated. We didn't have any WiFi our whole 4 day stay and every time we asked, they just told us they would try and restart it or someone would look at it. We ended up having to buy more data for our phones so we could use the internet and plan our trips and train schedules. The bed was horribly uncomfortable, lumpy and soft. The garbage bins outside, which is just outside the front of the building we stayed in smelled awful. The staff was very pleasant and check in and check out were hassle free.

The staff are lovely. The only issue myself and my partner had was the amount of spiders in our room. Every day we were there we had to kill about 2 new spiders that we discovered. Worst part was when I was unpacking my bag I had to kill another one as it got in my bag. Other than that, it truly was a lovely stay, the staff are very friendly!

A little gem of a find

A very good and well priced hotel with good facilities and real customer-facing staff - marketing speak for lovely friendly staff who to a fault were genuinely keen to please. Even the chef found me some black pudding for breakfast when I enquired why it wasn’t on the menu of a Scottish hotel. A highly recommended hotel for the Hamilton/Glasgow area, or overnight stop on the A474(M)
