The view! The huge bay window with the view leading to the deck opened up to just a spectacular sight of the ocean that looks like a portrait hanging on the wall. The amenities were quaint and cozy. If you’re looking to just get away to a quiet excluded place I would highly recommend Akua!

Our suite was amazing. We knew we found a gem as soon as we opened the door. The wall of the ocean side of our suite was entirely a glass wall with massive sliding doors which could open the room up to the patio and private pool (which is maybe about 80 degrees F and very well maintained). The view of the ocean and mountains is surreal. You’re more than likely guaranteed a sunset view, and the sun seems to set for a solid three hours. You can see it from every part of the suite. Even the shower. The horizon is so broad that even rain is fascinating to watch come in. The staff is fantastic too. They cleaned our room and even took care of the dishes, all the while being non invasive and respecting our privacy and belongings. Steven and Lisa’s is a 5 minute drive, there’s a few super minis and liquor stores 3 minutes away.

The host was more than accommodating throughout the booking, arrival and even allowing us late checkout time, which we needed because of a tour at the nearby Carara National Park. The room was beautiful with an amazing ocean view, clean and convenient with a kitchenette. We saw macaws fly by! Loved everything about Akua!

Enjoyable stay

We had a lovely stay in this peaceful suite - spacious, clean, and comfortable. The private dip pool and stunning view made for a magical evening of stargazing and total relaxation. It felt like a little hideaway. The only small downsides were a faint musty smell when we first entered (a dehumidifier might help) and the lack of bedside lamps, which would’ve added to the cozy vibe. Still, overall a great experience!
