Getting down on these chain hotels and Hotels.com
We used to really enjoy Holiday Inn Express, but the last few have been just OK, certainly not worth recommending. The issues here were:
1. Poor or non-existent housekeeping (e.g. the day they did come, they failed to remove the Keurig pod or replace the coffee and cups)
2. The cooling system was weird in several respects. One was that it was very drafty. We set the temperature to 76 and AC would go on loudly periodically and blast us with cold air from next to the bed.
3. Archaic TV. No connectivity, either internet, local Wifi, or via HDMI. The menu system on the incoming programs seemed non-functional and I couldn't use my own apps, which is something I expect now.
4. I never received a statement, but from my Visa statement I got brutally overcharged for this stay. I though Hotels.com took better care of their Gold members.
Next time, probably AirBNB.
