Don’t stay here if you don’t have a car (our mistake) or want to eat at the restaurant (it’s been closed for over a year…). Most of my complaints with our stay are mistakes on our part not the hotel. We were two 25 year olds booking our first euro trip and booking this hotel was a major learning experience. We planned our whole trip around using trains and public transportation. We found out after the fact that most people rent a car when they visit Tuscany and for them this hotel is the perfect overnight stop. We friend were enamoured by the beauty of the property from the views of the Tuscan countryside to the antique charm of the hotel itself. RE: FALSE ADVERTISING ON WEBSITE; RESTAURANT HAS BEEN CLOSED FOR A OVER YEAR. There was nowhere else to eat in walking distance other than an outrageously pricy steakhouse. INACCESSIBLE BY PUBLIC TRANSIT. Although the train station appears to only be a few kilometres
/short drive away on the map it is a 45 minute walk or there is a bus but it only comes every 4 hours. We planned to stay 3 nights here, but after realizing how inaccessible the area is without a car; we had no option but to book a last minute reservation in Florence and leave ASAP. It was such a nightmare. Despite our best efforts we could not secure a partial refund for our remaining nights. Overall this experience was poor due to our naivety and lack of research on the area.
