Beautiful view but won’t stay again

Booked a last minute trip and showed up to check in to find no one working. Called the number on the office door to be met with annoyance that I had made a booking online which they were unaware of. Luckily it was for only the one night so it wasn’t a big deal for me. The place was a bit run down but the one redeeming quality was the view from the room. You could see all mountains unobstructed. Beautiful.

A throw back gem to a time when an overnight stay was easy and peaceful. Go, stay, breathe, relax. And your car is 10 feet away everytime.

Solid motor lodge. Pros: very clean; AC worked great and the filter was clean; the bedding was high quality; the pool and hot tub were nice and well-maintained Cons: despite being the only guests in the hotel, our rooms weren't ready at the stated check-in time; the door knob on the inside of the bathroom door was missing; there was no shampoo in the shampoo dispenser

Stayed two nights. It was clean but “vintage” w mid century blue sink, toilet, and tub. The water for showering was only lukewarm. No hair dryer, no breakfast. Only real positive was close to Fraconia Notch SP and Polly’s Pancakes (a local treat).
Gretchen, 2-night trip

The room and furnishings were aged and overall subpar
Dennis, 1-night trip

6/10 Good

It could have been cleaner. There was hair in the bath tub and there was garbage left over in one of the trashes. There were only a few other guests so it was a little eerie. The location was really convenient for our purposes and there were a good amount of local restaurants to choose from. I did like that I got checked in over the phone the morning of and was just able to go straight to our room. Overall it was fine for a one night stay. I think it was a bit overpriced for what it was.
Nicole, 1-night trip

2/10 Poor

There were lots of spiders, bugs, random strands of hair, no paper towels, and no hair dryers.
Gaoming, 1-night trip

6/10 Good

Simple quiet place with nice Mountain View. Hot tub out of service. Room is ok a bit dated but there is an AC, beds a bit feels like you sink into it. Small fridge and microwave. In room coffeeMaker. No hairdryer. Whole place is taken care of by one very sweet woman no main office area but a number to call if you need anything. Franconia is a cute town. Not a lot of food options but there is a supermarket and one restaurant in the town. Adirondack chairs outside are nice. Picnic tables outside to sit on. Didn’t use the pool.

4/10 Fair

This is a small, locally-owned motel in the beautiful White Mountains area of NH. We were excited about the local ownership and focus on sustainability as part of their business model. Overall, the room was small but generally clean. The pool was large and our children enjoyed it. However, there were several things about our stay that were disappointing. First, the room was extremely outdated and run-down, and to say it was bare bones would be an understatement. What was most disappointing, however, was that we never were able to interact face to face with anyone from the property --- although we arrived at 7:30 PM that night we were texted earlier in the day saying that our room would be unlocked and ready for us. That evening and the next morning we had some questions about the local area that we were hoping to get some feedback on and there was no one from the motel available for even a small question. This is despite the fact that the information book in our room said the front desk was open and staffed until 10 PM each night.

2/10 Poor

Unhappy travelers

I booked a double bed room for me, my boyfriend, and his 11 year old son here because the site said pool and hot tub. Both were not open, beds sunken in, ac unit only worked as a fan, had to crawl under the tables and unplug lights to charge our phones, all of which I still wouldn’t write a bad review if it wasn’t for the owner. He said I should know pools don’t open till June in New Hampshire. Even though temperatures were in the high 60s and 70s. He came up to my boyfriend and said he would be giving us a discount without us asking for one but when the bill processed, no discount. I told him just to let him know that the bathroom door doesn’t close and he got short with me. Wouldn’t a business owner want to know things that need to be attended to? Had a nice view but not worth the price for discomfort. Sir, be kinder to people staying at your motel. Some people may not be so nice when treated so poorly. Ps get an electrician to update the outlets. They have no ground. Super dangerous and everything has clearly not been changed since the 80s. My boyfriend said at least there’s coffee! Then puts the creamer in his coffee only for it to curdle. Are those creamers from the 80s too? Disappointing all around.

Needs an update and TLC

Owner contacted me for my arrival time, I said 3pm (as it says on the website). No one was available upon arrival at 3pm. Man on the premises didn't know anything. Office has no one but a number to call. Housekeeper arrived, was helpful locating our room and key however we needed to come back in several hours as the room wasn't ready. It was convenient, clean and the two beds were comfortable. No wifi info in the room, one local brochure. I was able to text owner for wifi. Website says departure at 11 am, room sign says 10 am. The decor and furniture hadn't changed in 60 yrs, few outlets worked, no kitchen light, one bedside light, and used a blanket for a window shade on one window.
