It looked to me like the lodge was in the middle of, or had recently completed an upgrade. Our room was in great shape though we never got the TV to work. That wasn't an issue, however, since we weren't there to watch TV! They'd just upgraded the locks on the door to use a PIN instead of key and that worked out very well. There were sufficient pillows, the bed was pretty comfortable, the shower pressure was good and the water was hot.
Of note, the lodge is not "in" Taos so be prepared for a short-ish drive to get to downtown Taos if that's why you are visiting.
The lodge is right next to the main road but wasn't overly noisy. The area felt safe and I noticed security cameras watching the parking lot. It isn't a big property and you might look twice at it but it was freshly painted, renovated, clean, and safe.
