Location of this hotel was the best part - right on the main street, close to everything, and easy to get to. The main lobby was unique and looked the old pharmacy it used to be and the rooftop patio was nice place to take pictures and spend some time. The room itself was comfortable, though could have used some renovations. While the shower was larger than other hotels we stayed at in Portugal, the sealant could have be replaced as it was a bit grungy. The room was at the back of the building and on the 4th floor so it was quiet, except for we could hear the people in the room above us walking around. Staff were responsive online and let us check in an hour early, which was appreciated. Still good value for money though.

Very charming boutique hotel occupying the space of an old pharmacy, thus the name. The lobby still has many of the old compounds in their original glass jars lightly back lit giving the room a warm glow. Very welcoming. The room was very nice. Large bed with a comfortable spring mattress. Importantly the shower was great—strong water pressure and warm water. Staff was friendly and helpful. Suggested some excellent restaurants and we can confirm they know their local area.

The overnight stay at Pharmacia Guesthouse was a great find. I was very impressed that I cane across this location when I visited Coimbra. Very nicely located in the center of the Main Street. The room was very comfortable and clean. The location was great. João was there to greet us at check in and was very helpful throughout our stay. He's a tremendous asset to the hotel. It is on a lively and vibrant pedestrianised street, minutes from shops, bars, cafes and restaurants. Open the balcony doors and you are in the midst of Coimbra However, shut the double-glazed doors and “presto”, all is quiet and restful. It is the best of both worlds.
