Old Cape Hatteras

Sand everywhere, but not really the fault of the hotel.. It is in a sand dune. Parking limited. Room not fresh, decorative pillows on bed smelly. One sink in bathroom, no storage except corner shelf on back wall. Shower curtain dirty, faucet dripping, moldy caulking. No network TV, Roku streaming only. Nice to set on porch and watch the waves. Great access to wide open beach with many shells.

The property was beautiful and staff was great. The room was very nice and view of the ocean to die for. The parking was a real issue for us, we got stuck both times we pulled in and out of the property. Hopefully the property owners will invest in something to clear the sand that blows in.

Needed to get reservations canceled and hotel.com was unable to cancel and we were charged for a room we never used we tried to cancel a week before and got the same response of not able to do anything Need to talk with representatives from hotels. Com

LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION!!! That's the reason I love this place. The rooms are dated and in need of serious updates including bedding and linens. I love sitting in the rocking chairs and listening to the waves! It's amazing!!

The Cape Hatteras Motel conveys all of what OBX is! A true getaway! Incredible Oceanfront location. Woke up to an exquisite Sunrise. Rocking Chairs on the porch. All the amenities were present - very clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. Oh, and the ice machine was the best!

The location is good, easy access to the beach and restaurants. The place is rundown, needs upgrades, bed covers were stained, very limited kitchenware. This time I stayed on the pool side and did not like it but previously I stayed oceanside and the those rooms are way nicer and more equipped. Also you cant beat the view so its worth to spend extra for oceanside rooms. I'd give oceanside rooms are 4-5 stars, pool side 2-3 stars.

April 26-29 2024……Awesome beachfront!!! Staff cleaning up from prior weeks storm which washed sand dunes into parking lot…. Accommodations were made for parking. Staff was working to remedy situation. Restaurants a short walk and grocery stores and bait store nearby a short drive by car…our room was a king with kitchenette accessible by 2 flights of stairs…. No elevators….basic kitchen supplies… dishes… pots toaster and coffee makers kerig and standard… no cutting board…soap and dish towel and eating utensils and knives…. Staff honored request for extra supplies ( towels, toilet paper…) Again Awesome beachfront!!!! Fabulous sunrise from room window… We did not have success with catching fish but enjoyed trying…..would definitely rent again… maybe opt for a room on the lower floors.

We booked a 3-day weekend at this motel because of its proximity to the beach and view of the ocean from the room. The room was very sandy - they kept a broom and dustpan in the corner and we had to sweep several times. However the biggest problem was the flooding. When we came back from dinner the 2nd night the ocean waves had come up under the motel, which is on stilts, and flooded the parking lot, the street and part of the parking lot across the street where the office is. They told us to park on the office side of the property. To get to our room we had to wade the sand and water halfway up our shins. The next morning was even worse. With a tropical storm in the forecast we decided to leave a day early. Again we had to cross the flooded parking lots and street carrying all our luggage. My 76 year old husband slipped and fell in the floodwaters injuring his back. As we were leaving the maintenance man told us “this happens all the time.” I do not recommend this motel.

The floor in our room was gritty with sand. It had not been cleaned adequately. Check in was fine. The staff were very friendly. I loved being in a motel on the beach.
