There is no staff, no front desk. Our key stopped working and I was unable to get up to my floor. Luckily someone let me up and my girl was in the room to let me in. Otherwise, I don't know what I would do since there is no one there to help. The walls are very thin and you can hear all the other guest yelling. There are long term guests there and a sign saying that the building will soon be homeless housing. The room itself was nice, bed was uncomfortable, but the room was spacious.

Got to read the fine print when checking in! Having said that, granted it was rather unusual but the Gentleman at the Iris Inn was super polite and made the checking in process easy! And for the price, you can’t beat that! If I ever spend the evening in SD in the future, I definitely will be looking to return to Starling! Thank you for a tremendous stay!

Parking spaces are TINY for a small SUV so bring a bigger one and use two. Odd people & residents smoking weed in hallways and out front at all hours, despite it being a non smoking property? Wish I would have brought mine... Walls are paper thin, but when my tv stopped working I could hear the neighbors shows crystal clear anyway so no matter. Shower glass doors aren’t secure and bang together so don’t let it scare you too bad. Toilet held up w 2x4’s under the bowl was a thoughtful touch, no one wants to leave a lumpy mattress and worn out sheets to fall off the John. Cheap! If you stay you almost get what you pay for. AC worked but is super LOUD so it is inconvenient if you are trying to hear the neighbor’s tv.

Room has WiFi…but the smart tv thinks it’s smarter than the router and the unsecured connection. Kitchenette has fridge, dishes, hot plate - BYO pans, dish soap - BYO sponge. In an emergency you don’t need to go 4 miles to another hotel and report it to the front desk, you just text the cell phone number on the photocopy they give you when you check in at the 4mi away motel. The room was clean but I texted the number several times with no response. There is no one at the property. I had to drive 6 minutes to a hotel in mission valley to get the keys. I texted the contact number asking if the kitchen had pots and pans with no response. There are pots and pans but the lack of response made my stay very unpleasant. The sheets are thin like sandpaper and the same with the towels, thin and terrible. I didn’t sleep well and I would not stay again. The area is safe and I had a parking pass, so that was easy.

The room itself was nice, modern. However, I was never notified that I would have to check in at a different hotel location 15 minutes away from the property. There’s no lobby or staff at the property and no way to get into the building. I had to call the only number I had that was only in service between 8a and 5p. Luckily a resident gave me contact information to the front desk and I was able to check in after about an hour of trying to figure out what to do. It’s not a hotel per se, it’s an extended stay/apartments because there were mailboxes assigned to units. This is not how it was advertised.

Room keys issues!!!!!Especially when u go food shopping, need ro do wash, unload car and ur key wont even let you in the building by the time i loaded the car went got new keys, unloaded frozen desert wasnt frozen.. Fire alarm goes off in the am. V"oss of time and

It was not a hotel. I had to drive about 5 miles away to Oris Hotel to get the key. I called and no answer and I let a message and no one got back to me. Not ideal place at all
