We recently stayed at The Wit in downtown Chicago, booking a junior suite at over $2,000 for the weekend. While the room itself was nice, the overall experience fell short of what we expected at this price point.
Positives:
Room service and concierge were excellent—responsive and accommodating to anything we needed.
The central location is convenient if you want to be right in the heart of the city.
Concerns:
The lobby and common areas were constantly overcrowded, especially on weekend nights, due to the rooftop traffic. It made the atmosphere hectic rather than relaxing.
Valet service was extremely slow. Even after calling 30 minutes ahead as instructed, we still waited close to an hour for our car. I’d recommend calling at least an hour in advance.
Access to the rooftop was disappointing. Despite booking a high-level suite on the 20th+ floor, we were told we needed to pay an additional $200 for access. Once we finally got up there, it was nearly empty—adding to our frustration.
Overall, the stay lacked the sense of exclusivity and amenities you’d expect when paying this rate.
Bottom Line:
While we made the best of our stay, the value simply wasn’t there. For the same investment, you can find more luxurious hotels in Chicago that provide better amenities, less confusion, and a more seamless experience. Unfortunately, we would not choose The Wit again.
