Retro Bargain Cabin

Cute cabin, with 70’s style fireplace hood. Management was very helpful when pipes froze. It’s on “the drag” or the Main Street in town so you can walk to most things. Will stay again.

8/10 Very good

The location was nice. Someone came into our rental and looked through everything, but only took underwear. It was a little creepy. The codes change for the doors, so I thought it must be one of the managers or owners. The dishwasher didn’t work and there weren’t enough trash bags for my 5 day family stay. Otherwise, it was a really nice place. Deer in the yard, great view, super quiet and with lots of amenities- washer and dryer, hot tub, swing on an awesome porch, etc. made for a great stay.

A bedside lamp would be nice, as well as one in the living room. The bed is very comfortable. The staff I spoke with were wonderful! Patient and calm in talking me through using the door lock and setting up an extra night's stay, was all well done.

Overall it was a good size for the price considering the location and closeness to the middle of town. Only reason I didnt give 5 stars is because of the size of the restroom and shower. It definitely is not made for bigger than average people. The sink is right in front of the toilet, you have to rest your arms on the sink when using the toilet. I barely had enough room to shower, I stand 6ft and the shower head was at my neck level as well as i didnt have room to turn around while showering.

WiFi isn’t good, so to check in, go to management office. Signal better there too. Nice cabin and dog friendly. Failed to read it was one big room. Ha my fault, but the beds are spaced out enough that nobody’s random snoring was a problem. Nice woods feel.

Cabin was cute and old feeling. It does need a lot of upgrading and the property had a lot of debris. The river area does need clean up. Our heater was super noisy and kept us up every night. When the wind blows, it sounded like someone was trying to break into the sealed cabin door, scared us the 1st night lol it is in walking distance of shops and restaurants and the staff at the store were very friendly.

2/10 Poor

Bear Cub worst cabin great location but you can see day light through the doors, panels falling off the walls, bed is so loud, didn’t look like the sheets had been washed we had to sleep on top and go buy blankets, extension cord running through the main door for the tv, while in the wall where the propane line is you can feel air coming through, looks like a 4 year old painted the walls, shower was nasty couldn’t even bring myself to shower. Never again!

Overall the pricing good and the location was perfect. However, as far as the cleanliness, that was below average. You could tell nobody walks through the unit before checking in once we arrived, and I walked through the cabin. I noticed spiderwebs and all the corners, some spiders in the bathroom. Initially, I had to let the water run for about 30 minutes because it came out yellow because nobody stayed there in a while. I can’t complain because as I said the pricing was good, so I guess I got what I paid for hopefully in the future Casey’s cabins could make minor upgrades to make the stay more comfortable

6/10 Good

Cute and cozy cabin, it is not a luxurious stay though. I wish I had read more of the reviews so I could have brought our own pillows. The ones provided were terrible so we didnt sleep much. There was a door in the bedroom that has a window and it was really bright at 6 am. Once the traffic picked up there was no more trying to sleep especially when the neighbors were up, you could hear them coughing from their own cabin. It was affordable and clean for the most part. There was a lamp that was super dusty next to the bed. There are few details, the caulk in the restroom was sloppy, the bathroom sink and the toilet loose. I did read some reviews and came prepared with toiletries because other than soap, none were provided. If we did choose to stay here again, I would ask the front desk for another blanket and bring my own pillows and we would be ok. Checking in, is always easy they own multiple locations and we have stayed at a few. The staff at the front desk have always been nice and the little shop has cute stuff.

My Opinion Review🌙

I would only recommend the Whitetail Cabin if for 1, maybe 2 nights, tops. My husband and I paid for 3 nights but left after 2 because it just isn't a comfortable "hang out" type of cabin. The Check in and Check out process is super easy! The parking area is good and well maintained. Location is spectacular as most everything is within walking distance or a very short drive. The cabin itself is very aged and uniquely small. It's fine for a short stay of 1 or 2 nights max. It is simply not very comfortable and "homey" for a longer stay than that. The floors will make your feet bottoms solid black in a short time so be sure to take your house shoes. Walking barefoot is NOT recommended. Idk what it is mopped with but it leaves the floors a "sticky" kind of dirty as it sticks on your feet. Also, we had to wash the coffee pot and each dish before we used it as they were put up dirty. The shower is tiny like a camper shower; very small! The shower liner is not very clean either but it's because it sits in the wet non stop. The floors are all unlevel as well. As far as fixable complaints go, the tv has a spot inbedded in it while your watching it and the only ceiling fan does not work. I did not call or email any complaints because it's the types of things (other than dirty issues) that not much can be done about. I am sure they do the best they can with what they have to work with. Would I rent it again? 🤔 Only if there were no other alternative.
