The owner went above and beyond for me! Accommodated early check in and late check out while still allowing me to stay parked on the beach front access. This is definitely an old building but it didn’t matter because we were right on the beach.

If you are a family traveling from out of town DO NOT book this hotel! It looks nothing like the photos. I arrived with my children and walked right out the door. Hotels.com and Virpillat refused to refund-this property is misrepresented in the photos (trash bags stacked in hallways, junk all over)

I stayed at the hotel for one night, and there was no staff around at anytime. The electronic pin pad that allowed us to enter our room with a code's battery died. I had to call at 3:30 in the morning, a place with 24 hour service 4 times. I had to call the police to get assistance back into my room. I also wasn't given my parking pass to park by the strand, which was included and confirmed a couple of times via email, to which I got a 63 dollar parking ticket from the city of hermosa.

Location is amazing. If it's most important to be on the beach for a fair price, this is the place! However, no AC makes it difficult on warm days because all the people outside make it difficult to keep the windows open. Friendly staff, great location but outside noise and no AC are issues!

Really warming and welcoming cozy rooms! I booked last minute and got one of the smallest rooms still very comfortable and fully functional! Toured other rooms and they were gorgeous! Definitely going back!! Jay was very helpful and very responsive.

The Vurpillat is in a great location right on the beach. Our room was comfortable and clean, not fancy but good. The bed was very comfortable and it was nice to have a kitchenette. The parking situation is confusing- it's street parking and we were supposed to receive a parking pass, but didn't get it until the second day (the caretaker was sick), so had to feed the meter. There was mention of reimbursing our parking- that didn't happen. They also don't tell you beforehand that you shouldn't try to drive up to the hotel to drop off stuff. Just park on the street and walk over. Definitely, definitely not disablity friendly, so it would be impossible for someone with those needs. It seemed there were a lot of long-term 'renters' who were hanging around and it got a bit noisy. Just giving information. I would stay there again for the location, price and the comfy bed.

Great spot! Beautiful vintage building with comfort and charm. Spacious, with art and antiques throughout. You can hear the ocean, as you sleep, and your morning stroll is right on the beach! The beds are clean and cozy too! Helpful staff as well! Can’t wait to go back.

A mix of full time renters and hotel rooms. Room was dated but clean. Curtains didn’t black out light. Extremely noisy in a 1st floor backside room. Never saw any staff the entire trip. Exterior doors were virtually open and unlocked 24/7 so wouldn’t recommend if security is any concern.
