Doug was helpful and friendly on check-in. We loved the view of Mt. Williamson behind the motel. The room was very clean and cozy and had everything we needed. The towels and linens are of good quality and the beds comfortable. It was handy to be able to park right out front of the room to quickly unload. As with most hotels and motels along 395, it’s close to the road, but earplugs and the a/c unit drowned out the noise. A good spot to head out to Death Valley the next day.

A hidden gem in the desert!

I decided to stay at the Mount Williamson Basecamp on my way down to Palm Springs as I had a specific reason to be in Independence for the evening. I had no idea the charming little gem this spot is! If they have a room, make sure to stay there!
I was initially concerned when I saw the name “base camp” that this would be a very rough, hostel type accommodation and I would perhaps have to shower in a separate building or something! I couldn’t have been more surprised and delighted that my sp!
Right out the back of the property this is the view one is rewarded with!
I had forgotten what stunning scenery there is to be had in the southern Sierra Nevada range!
The cottage appeared fairly newly renovated and really had everything I needed for a very comfortable night!

Super cute cottages. I’m in a suite with a living room, kitchen and separate bedroom and bath. Well kept, thoughtful selection of decor. Super comfy. Beautiful shared spaces and porch. Only difficulty is lack of restaurants and groceries.

Amazing view with clean room and kind staff

We had a lovely time for our 1st time stay! We arrived late so we told the front desk and the made accommodation for us! Beds are a little stiff but over all the view and the quietness in the range is what your come for!! Would stay again!
