Perfect getaway in Vieux-Québec

Hotel Terrasse Dufferin—the perfect location to enjoy Vieux-Québec, with a wonderful view of the St Lawrence River & easy access to the Terrasse Dufferin, a lovely boardwalk promenade. Many historical sites nearby such as the Chateau Frontenac & shops & restaurants further down on charming streets—like being in old world Europe. This hotel exudes lots of charm & tho it’s an older historic establishment it’s well maintained & clean. A basket of fresh apples in the lobby was there for the picking! Our host, Zineb, warmly welcomed us at check-in explaining in great detail everything we needed to know during our stay. She gave us a list of her personal restaurant recommendations from which we enjoyed several of her picks like Le Lapin Sauté & Au Petit Coin Bretonne. We parked our car for a small fee next to the hotel, with in-&-out privileges, a definite plus. Our room was spacious, bright, well maintained & clean & faced the river, a great way to greet the day. The room which was definitely updated since its older days, includes a fridge, a coffee maker & a tin basket of welcome treats for breakfast & snacks. A water dispenser in the hall landing encourages us to bring our bottles to refill as the hotel wants to minimize plastic waste—kudos to them. A kitchen on the lower level is available for guests’ use. Our bathroom (great water pressure!) was more than adequate tho a bit narrow—could be tight for some. Zineb & Amelie were fantastic & this hotel is the perfect getaway.

Just perfect

You could not find a better location or more attentive service anywhere in Quebec City. The hotel is charming. I would not want to stay in a modern hotel here. We got the “vibe” of Quebec City as soon as we arrived at the hotel. We had an early flight in and our room was ready for us which was lovely. Our room was on the second floor with a view out over the river. It was warm enough, perfectly clean, the beds were comfortable and the hot water was plentiful with great pressure. The room was large enough with a couple of easy chairs. The snack basket, coffee machine, fridge, kettle and tea bags were really welcome. But what really sets the hotel apart is the wonderful staff. Amalie, Shelby and Veronica (I hope that’s right) were welcoming, accommodating, friendly and helpful. From helping take luggage upstairs, to recommending restaurants, to helping my friend who was not feeling well, to ordering us an early taxi, they could not have done more to help us. Our visit was outstanding. We love your city and we love your hotel.

Made our time in QC perfect

It was perfect. Staff was so kind and helped us with a taxi. Every day they gave us fresh towels without asking. They also had tea, coffee, hot chocolate, and a snack basket for us. The location was also so perfect, right next to the Fairmont Chateau Frontenac. We had a perfect time.

Läget är suveränt. Nära till allt, kan inte bli bättre. Slitet men ändå trevligt. Gammal stil, stort rum ( hade en svit) Vi hade en balkong som säkert hade varit suverän på sommaren nu snöstorm. Byggnadsställningen utanför var inte så trevlig men eftersom det är vinter påverkar det oss inte. Personalen som jobbade där var super gulliga och trevliga. Sängarna jättesköna! Vi hade kök men använde det inte. Kan definitivt komma tillbaka då läget slår det mesta.

The receptionist with an Arabic name (I'm so sorry I didn't retain your name) was absolutely fantastic: smiley, helpful, kind, had very good manners and made a very positive first impression. The guy the next day less so. Someone had taken my parking spot and the way he handled it was unprofessional to me. He had a negative energy and tone that was unpleasant. He also complained about the weather when we were leaving the hotel to check the parking spots. It's Quebec (City), so we all know what the weather is like. As an employee of the hotel, he did not have to express that complaint to me. Plus, this was January 1st, a day we often celebrate and want good vibes. Anyway, despite those two incidents (parking spot and interlocution with this unpleasant male receptionist), everything was great. The room was comfy and very clean (including the bathroom). Our stay was really good. While it's not a deluxe experience, it's a charming little hotel with comfy beds (we stayed in the room with two double beds), clean sheets and above all super well located.

I don't typically review hotels. But the staff was so friendly that I felt the need to. It's like staying at your grandmother's house. A little dated, but in a really vintage cool way. Staff was great helpful. And you couldn't be in a better location.

Le plus agréable à propos de cet hôtel est son emplacement, il est à quelques pas de toutes les attractions touristiques. Il est aussi raisonnablement propre, lits confortables, cependant la chambre et la salle de bain sont petites. J'ai aimé son style qui reflète le vieux Québec. Le stationnement pour notre voiture est à l'extérieur, non couvert, et le premier venu, le premier servi car pas beaucoup de places. Belle expérience en somme !
