Wonderful Traditional Stay in Kyoto
We stayed for 3 nights in this traditional Japanese ryokan. Staff is very friendly, the room is kept clean, and food was amazing.
The only minus was the shared showers.

Although a little run down this is certainly made up for in the service received. Would stay here again for the convenience.

The staff/owner were amazing! The accommodations were great and we felt so taken care of. The bathroom amenities are also top notch — basically private onsen for guests staying here. Highly recommend! Thank you to the owner for his hospitality and kindness.

Lovely staff but this ryokan needs some attention
Yamamoto Ryokan appears to be a little worn (physically) compared to every other hotel/ryokan that we visited in Japan. The staff were however lovely and accommodating. We were greeted upon our arrival with tea, and our traditional breakfast in a private room was wonderful.

For me, it was homely and relaxed. The only problem was that the room started out pretty cold; after a day, it was fine.

A cozy ryokan for the night
Very beautiful classic ryokan style. Service was exceptional. They carried it our bags. Food was amazing and gorgeous. Rooms were prepared for snacks and bed when we were out. It was my first time with a public bath, but I felt comfortable. The bath was the perfect temperature. The only issue was we (us) waited too long to figure out the light switches. I did not know how to turn off the light near the window, so that was left on all night. I should have looked before and asked when everyone was awake.
