My wife and I looked forward to coming Winston Salem and stay at the Shaffner Inn. We arrived at the Inn at 745 pm and the reception was cold and chilly and we were looking for more of a warmer “welcome we are glad your here” just the opposite. After we found our room we discovered our bathroom was down the hall. Not expecting that. The bed was lumpy and the pillows were not as comfortable as we like. In fact they were pretty flat. The bathroom had a toilet that was running constantly and I actually fixed it to be able to use it. The website advertises full breakfast. Was not even close. There were no eggs, no potatoes of any kind. Coffee was good though. Just a inadequate breakfast for us My wife and I most likely will never stay there again. Was not a good experience. A one and done!

The hotel is amazing, the staff is very hospitable, and the breakfast food is amazing to wake up too. Had a great view of the largest Winston landmark building. Even with bad snowy weather, the warmth and hospitality inside definitely melted all that away in my room. Will definitely return, this is my second stay and not soon to be my last.

We stayed in the Wachovia room Christmas Eve to Christmas Day as a midpoint to our final destination. The innkeeper was very attentive in making sure we were able check in late with no hiccups. Instructions were clear, easy to navigate even with a few one way streets near by. We were extremely pleased with the ambiance, location, attentiveness of staff and most of all THE BREAKFAST!! The biscuits and gravy are still being talked about. Rooms were clean, bed was comfy, the clawfoot tub in the room was to die for. We brought a bottle of wine and thought we were SOL — but the room had a wine opener and a bathtub tray to hold my wine and chocolate. Perfect for relaxing and had everything we needed — including water bottles and a mini fridge!

Disappointing breakfast

The hotel is very nice, if not old, the staff is friendly, and it's convenient to many things in Winston Salem. The breakfast though was inadequate and not tasty. I booked her because it's a bed and breakfast and it was highly disappointing.
