Very nice small hotel! Breakfast was amazing. The room was comfortable, the area is beautiful, and we happened upon a small festival in the city center. We plan to stay again if we are ever in Ghent in the future!

The hotel was a little walk away from the town centre, and our room was up a few flights of stairs, but the overall stay was nice. The breakfast was outstanding - one of the best buffet breakfasts on our trip!

Great little hotel - shabby chic, good fresh breakfast - only slight downside was it can be a little noisy due to to old wooden floor boards but for me this adds even more character to this lovely building- would definitely stay again - around 10 mins walk to the centre of Ghent

Very good breakfast, large room, modern and updated bathroom, comfortable bed. Great old building. Only downsides, noisy creaky floor and not enough pillows.

Hotel is quaint, in a period building with high ceilings and creaky floorboard. Staff were helpful, parking in their garage convenient, and the neighbourhood was quiet. TV didnt work, nor the Bathroom light, but the receptionist fixed the latter and we didn't bother to mention the TV. Main negative was the very bad smell from the drains in the bathroom, and the lack of air con.

Interesting character property that could probably do with a bit of a refresh. The room was a good size, with a comfortable bed. A couple of minor flaws, wiring was visible on the ceiling light, and the window frames had seen better days. I will probably stay elsewhere next time I am in Ghent.

Nice enough hotel and quite central
Staff were very friendly . It is an old building but reasonably clean . Rooms very spacious but the mattress was so soft. A bit tired and needs some tlc and a wee lick of paint . The breakfast was amazing and plenty of choice .

Nice hotel
Old fashion hotel in an old building, the furnishings we’re old fashioned and it was really cool.
The breakfast was very good.
It took us 10-15 minutes to walk to the center and the tourist attractions. There are some parking spots at the hotel, the best thing is to book in advance.
The staff we met was friendly and we would absolutely recommend this hotel.

Quirky and Atmospheric Hotel
Great location. Lots of character. Shabby, faded glory, but fun for a short trip. Male staff member upon arrival 5th March, offered perfunctory service, but the female staff member we met at breakfast on 5th was outstanding. Very engaging and clearly really cared. I watched her putting a lot of love into the breakfast presentation and was obviously proud of this as she asked how we'd enjoyed it as we checked out. She was very accommodating and this is the sort of service that makes people want to return. A couple of comments to note... yes, there is a broken mirror and light fixture in the bathroom, which judging from other reviews has been that way for a while. To be honest it sort of added to the ghost story feel of the place so wasn't concerned. I understand replacing a specific light fixture not easy to source , but the mirror was just a piece of glass did wonder why that was left as it was. We were handed a piece of paper upon arrival with some info, which stated we'd be offered a welcome drink upon arrival. When we enquired of this the curt reply from the male staff member was we stopped offering this 5 years ago and definately wouldn't offer to those booked on Hotels.com!! OK then! Why not update the info, its only a piece of printed paper! Hotel could be a gorgeous boutique hotel with some investment, but then I'm sure I could never afford to stay here! A like it as it is, but with a tiny bit more care to fix broken items etc

This property does not have air conditioning even though it says it does. The breakfast was great. The hotel is old and needs a bit of a touch up. We thought it could have been cleaner. We liked the location for walking to things to see and do.

Absolutely stunning hotel! The room I stayed in was on the top floor and had solid wood floors and angled ceilings, even in the bathroom! Smelled so good like fresh, bright wood. Beautifully carved matching antique wood furniture as well- beureau, desk and bed frame. A really peaceful and clean feeling energy. The hotel lobby is full of gorgeous antiques and beautiful art everywhere, soft jazz and classical music being played and the staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. Really elegant and tasty breakfast. I loved my stay here!

Charming Charme
I enjoyed my stay at the Charme Hotel Hancelot. Check-in was easy and the service was terrific. When they told me my room was on the top floor and there was no elevator, they offered to help carry my suitcase to my room. My room was clean and comfortable. My only suggestion would be for a new mattress as the one in my room was a bit too soft. Otherwise a wonderful stay and I would happily choose this hotel again!

Once this probably was a nice shabby chic hotel. Due to lack of maintenance it’s lost all the ‘chic’ and is now only shabby. Cannot speak for every room but ours was definitely in need of a thorough refurbishment. No complains about cleaning. It was tidy enough. Good location with walking distance to the historical centre. Small garage available if you are driving. Need to be booked in advance. Advise to the owner. With a reasonable investment you can develop the garden. Renovate the rooms were it matters. Shower/wc. An uplift on the facade would also help.

Charming traditional hotel
Traditional hotel full of character with high ceilings & period furniture. Room spacious with great shower however decor needing refreshed. Excellent breakfast with wide choice of hot & cold options. Good location as only a minute from a tram stop so easy access to railway station & a pleasant 20 minute walk to old city.
