6/10 Good

My stay at Ring Stone Hotels Old City was disappointing and unacceptable based on what I booked and what I actually received. I selected a specific room category shown in the listing. What we were given was simply not the same. It was smaller, different in layout, and absolutely not the same view from the terrace, not match the photos.
Hotels have an obligation to provide the exact room category a guest pays for. You cannot advertise one room and then give something inferior. This is misleading and violates basic hospitality standards.
What made the experience worse was discovering that the room across from ours — the one that matched the listing photos — was being prepared for another guest. When we politely asked if we could wait for that room since it was the one we actually booked, we were told no because it was being kept for someone “important.”
This is absolutely unacceptable. It is unethical to give a guest’s reserved room to someone else simply because you consider them a VIP. If a room is available and matches the reservation, it should be assigned to the person who booked and paid for it — not reassigned based on favoritism.
The location and staff were fine, but the way the room situation was handled completely overshadowed everything else. I paid for a specific room and got something similar.
Would not recommend; this is my 5th time in Istanbul and the first time I've encountered this situation.
