This is a 17th century coaching inn, which makes it a wonderful place to stay. The staff, especially the reception, were excellent and the room was clean. Yes, it's above a pub so it's not going to be super quiet until after it closes, but there was more noise from adjacent rooms than the pub. An evening meal was very good (meat pies top notch) and continental breakfast was good. For non-UK guests, yes, the room is going to be small, and for North American guests it is also going to be cold (not by UK standards, but by what you're used to). Adjusting the radiators helps, but if it's very cold outside this may not be where you want to be. But the situation is great, right across from the amazing ancient church, absolutely beautiful with lots of windows and light. Highly recommended.
