Perfect location, everything you need is nearby (train, bus, shops, bars etc) and 10mins walk to the harbour. Reception always manned and very helpful. I will definitely stay there again if I visit Bristol!

Advertised check-in time was 15:00, however I had to wait until 21:00 for my room to be cleaned and ready for use, due to a lack of staff. The trash from the previous occupier was still in the bin after fresh bedding were finally put on, so I wasn’t too confident on how clean the rest of the room was. My recommendation: do not book this place.

Room was clean and bed comfortable. Check in wasn’t perfect. After completing my I.D check the previous day from a link that only works if you copy and paste from a message that you can barely read. There were still issues on arrival. I had made the booking for my friend and was guest 1. However the I.D links were all linked to guest 2. I did not have my i.d with me so this caused some stress. Also considering this was all on one booking my friend and I were put in separate shared flats! Just seemed a little strange. All got sorted but the process just needs some polishing. Otherwise parking nearby and a quiet location.

Incredibly disappointing stay at the metalworks last weekend. Arrived at check in time for 3pm and there was a long queue already well into the lobby. There were only two staff on the desk who where quickly overwhelmed by how many people were queuing- I am not in anyway blaming them to be clear, but I find it ridiculous that only two people were on the desk (only one of whom seemed to have access to the keycards for the room) on a Saturday afternoon, especially on such a busy day. We waited in line for half an hour to be told our room wasn’t yet ready and were told to wait for another hour in the lobby. Eventually we simply had to ask for the room key regardless of the state of the room so that we could leave our bags and not have to rush back from the event we were already late for. Very disappointing and frustrating experience.

Local amenities were for for purpose. It's a student-orientated area with a large supermarket 3 minutes away. Ideal for picking anything up you might need.

It took us an hour to check in (on Weekends they have no reception staff so poor security are left to do it) because there were so many issues with peoples rooms not being ready or wrong keys being given or rooms not being cleaned- at this point it was already 2 hours after the check in time had started. When we finally got given our keys, we got up to our room and it had not been cleaned. We went down and told security, we went out for dinner and when we got back the room had been cleaned, however we had only been given one bath towel and there were two of us, and no hand towel or bath mat, so went down and the security on the desk didn't know where the big towels were so got given a hand towel to use for a shower. The room was also still very dirty, floor hadn't even been swept let alone cleaned, the shower and toilet were still dirty. You only get given 1 pillow each and they are the flattest pillows I've ever seen. All round horrific experience and the host wouldn't give us a refund or partial refund even though the room wasn't ready or fit for purpose. Would AVOID at all costs if I was you.

Positive: Parking in front of it, bus stops nearby, asda/shops nearby, new building, safe access, lift, quick check in, quiet, clean, 24hrs access, nice spacious lobby. Negative: Bed was not comfy and pillows too flat, very small for 2, vending machine in the lobby charged us twice and didn't give food.
