The pool area was pretty, the front desk clerks were helpful, linens were fresh and clean, and the AC worked. There was a sink, microwave, mini fridge, and a few dishes, cups, and silverware, which were much appreciated. But that’s the only positive things I can say about the property. I booked a quad room (4 double beds); there was a front room and a back room with a bathroom. The only windows (only in the front room) opened up to the hallway, so we had to keep the drapes closed or have people walking by look in on us. The back room had no windows which made everything dark and depressing and the overhead lights were cold LEDs which made it feel like a hospital. Many of the few outlets in the room were old and 1/2 broken — anything plugged in kept falling out and the only way to keep a connection was to push a suitcase up against it to keep it plugged in. There was black mold in the grout in the shower, and absolutely no warm water (let alone hot water) even with it turned all the way up. There’s a sign in the bathroom requesting toilet paper not to be flushed (that’s fine; I’m used to those scenarios) but the only garbage can in the toilet room didn’t have a lid; it was just a basket lined with a plastic bag — I’m fine not flushing toilet paper, but I don’t want to look at (or smell) the used toilet paper! Eww! The beds also had no headboards, just a mattress shoved up against the wall, making it feel more like a hostel. At $200+/night it was simply not a good value.

The Palms is a lovely hotel with a wonderful location a block from the beach. The staff is very accommodating, but this property may not suit all American tourists. The rooms are very small in general and the hot water doesn’t really work. If your room is on the second floor, you will have to walk up a flight of stairs.

Air conditioning very good, Breakfast good, rooms clean. The only urgent upgrade required is the hot water. Not a single day there was hot water. Just luke warm. As we discussed the issue with other guests and they too had the same issues. Staff were excellent both at the restaurant and house keeping. Check in and reception desk were excellent. Especially Laura. Overall we had a great stay.

Great location relative to restaurants and the beach but very sketchy neighborhood. Room desperately in need of updating. No hair dryer, broken coffee maker, no coffee provided, only luke warm shower. Noisy due to entertainment in dining room. Staff kind but often inattentive.

Staff were awesome. The hotel lobby and pool area were very nice and looked very clean and in good condition. However we were shocked when we got our room. The rooms had no windows to the outside. It looked like it had been stripped of everything - the kitchen had everything removed (looked like it used to have stove, dishwasher and cupboards) and only had a small fridge and microwave with a few cups and silverware, and two bowls. No plates, knives or any way to wash the dishes. No lamps on the bedside tables. The sheets, towels and pillows were very dingy, thin and yellowed. Electrical switches were hanging out of the wall. And to top it off, we found two cockroaches in the room - one crawling across the bed so we checked out a day early. They also played music very loudly in the restaurant till almost 10:00 so we couldn’t get baby to sleep.

Convenient location close to the beach and restaurants in a safe area. The swimming pool area is nice and clean. They had entertainment at nights (open mic, latin dance class). The room was spacious and clean (some bugs are to be expected). The bedsheets and towels are a bit old. The main problem was the noise from people opening and closing doors, cabinets, walking and talking in the hallway not only by guest but by the hotel staff.
