Bar was OK However there was no heating in my room Bed was great Shower was Terrible!! I’m a plumber. I couldn’t get the shower to work, only a dribble The only requirements I have when working away are a reasonable bed and a reasonable shower, is that to much to ask for?

The staff and hotel were lovely and the location was great for what we needed. Although it was very lovely and quiet at night, We did struggle to sleep comfortably as the mattress was quite springy and uncomfortable and the pillows for myself personally were either too soft or hard and big but that is a personal preference and you cannot please everyone. The rooms themselves were both lovely that we had booked. A double and a family room both lovely rooms. We did have a powercut to our room which meant we could not shower in the morning but that wasn’t a major deal for us and being a Sunday there wasn’t much they could do to get someone out quickly but the staff were quick at least trying to look themselves and see if it was an easy fix. Would definitely stay again. Thank you

The room needs updating, tv not working, room needs a good clean as it’s got serval spiders 🕷️, the pub is a very nice old place, food is nice. Payed £110 for a night with breakfast, overall not bad but there are a few other places around here I would rather try.

Saturday Night - not family friendly

Noisy on a Saturday night for a family

This was a cheap room I’d booked, however I still expected to have heating available in the room and the separate bathroom. This made it extremely difficult to get to sleep as it was a very cold night, even with the tiny extra blanket. The pub sign is just outside this room which squeaked in the wind throughout the night, which also didn’t help me to find sleep and could easily be remedied with a drop of WD40! I was shown up to my room by a staff member and was left to discover where my bathroom was myself, which was 2 doors away. To add to that, neither was I shown the guest entrance to use at the back of the hotel if I needed to get in once the pub was shut. So I had to knock on the pub window to get someone’s attention inside to get in that night! All in all, this was not a great experience of Long Melford, which was a shame. it is such a beautiful village and not my first visit. I will be back but unfortunately not to the George and Dragon.

Room smelt of cigarette smoke. Bathroom appeared clearn at first glance but there were lots of hairs on the floor and around the toilet. Shower temperature was erratic. No convenient plug sockets to dry hair.

A place to stay, not sleep…

The noisiest room I have stayed in for years. Loud band playing until late Masses of road noise Outside drinkers Feet pounding on floor above vibrating the ceiling. Not restful….

It's pretty much as described; a 3 star pub. It's not Claridges but it's value for money. Nice people and clean room. Generally pub food is not great and this was no exception: I had a very ordinary steak pie (none of the advertised kidneys). The peas and mash had obviously been left under the warming lamp for far too long and were pretty dried out. But, as I said, nice people and comfortable bed. I'd stay there again.

This was the 4th time staying at the George and for the last 2 times ive a room with a very small tv. So s.all on this stay that watching the football i had difficulty seeing who was who and were the ball was. Otherwise the staff are friendly the meal i had very good. Next time unless i have a room with the bigger tv screen i wont be able to book. Neil

1 * pub hotel

1* accommodation with wardrobe in bathroom ?? VERY VERY noisy LIVE band on Friday night which went on till 11.30PM so dont come here if you want a quiet weekend break in the beautiful town of Long Melford. Breakfast was decent but cereal bowls dirty not washed properly. Also stopped on the hottest day of the year so far so it was very hot & sweaty in the room. Overall all a bit disappointing.

Worst hotel I've ever stayed in. The noise from the pub was horrific. Didn't realise a family room would be directly above noise until so late. Doesn't mention this in the details- wish I had read the reviews!! Wasn't clean. Room was Freezing- Gail force winds coming through the windows. Even when the noise eventually stopped could hear the people shouting out the front.

- Freezing cold rooms and no warm water. - We had to pay extra for an upgrade when we arrived, even tho we had followed the instructions on the website.
