The surrounding area is beautiful. The hotel is nice and historic. Guest service was poor and unprofessional. Our room was not ready even though we arrived at the designated 4 pm check in time. While we did not mind waiting a few minutes for the room to be ready, we were advised that it was ready until we asked. When we got to the room, it was was not clean. We asked for housekeeping to come but we were informed no one was available. The hotel gave us a new room but it wasn't very clean either as we found used dental floss from presumably the prior occupant. The hotel restaurant has very good food in a nice setting. Hotel charges a nightly resort fee but offers no amenities.

Don’t pass up a stay here

The Benbow Inn was a wonderful stay for 2 nights while we explored the area. Very historic but comfortable. The grounds are beautiful and peaceful. Restaurant was delicious. All staff we interacted with were incredibly friendly and helpful.

Beautiful inn. Lots of little issues impacted our enjoyment however. Arrived at 340 but didn’t get into our room until 530 because they forgot to call us when the room was ready! (The new receptionist was very friendly when he found out) At check out they charged us again for taxes when our pre-payment included the taxes. They were reluctant to remove it.

I little disappointed. We had dinner at the property, looks like everybody is busy because of the wedding. Ordered dinner and my sister found a piece of plastic on her vegetable. Up the hotel room, not even a soap to wash our hands. What do they expect wash our hands with body wash in the bathroom? Not even a small toiletries for their guest? And when we check out and asked the lady on the front desk,about why they don’t have at least a bar of soap to wash our hands with.She said they were out of stock. Just disappointed.

Staying at the Benbow Inn was very nice. We actually preferred it over our other stays at the Hiltons. Was everything perfect like new? No, but it was more specialin the way that we stepped back in time and history. Something America lacks greatly. We appreciated the kindness of the staff and the delicious food. walking the halls and exploring the Inn, seeing rhe old photos, walking out back by the Eel River listening to the soothing sounds of the water running over the rocks, added to our vacation stories. Definitely recommend to add this Historical Inn to your travels.

No mention of no in room TV. Although historical atmosphere… very pretty. In this day and age one thinks a $400+ Hotel room would have TV Service Would not recommend for a visit!

Our room had not been used in quite a while. Shower curtain was moldy, big cobwebs above the bathroom lights/mirror, peeling paint in ceiling area outside bathroom. Aside from that the common areas were well maintained and charming, especially the bar/sitting area with a fireplace, and staff was very friendly.
