Avoid

One shower and toilet between all rooms. In these days of Covid, not good. Found someones dirty laundry in the drawers. The rest of the drawers were filthy. Wifi turned off at 20:00 and stayed off. Tv was a big as the palm of my hand- I'm not kidding. All this for £70 a night. What a joke!
Huge TV-not!
Filthy - when was this last cleaned?
Just disgusting!

Great value overnight stay

Great breakfast. Although bathroom was shared I used it as if it was my own! Friendly helpful staff. My WiFi didn’t work well from my room so had to access it in public downstairs. Opportunity to meet the locals! Walls or rooms are paper thin as it is an old building so take sleeping ear plugs if you are sound sensitive This was a good value deal for one night in Milton Keynes

Good for our stopover

Quiet - by the road but v.little road noise. Bathroom layout a bit quirky but made best use of the space. Comfortable and clean, with a friendly welcome and good breakfast - perfect for our one night stopover.

A great stay, a bonus was the roaring fire in the bar and the fantastic rainfall shower!

The property is old as you would expect from a coaching inn but is spotlessly clean. A nice welcome from the landlord and his wife. The locals in the bar chatted and made you feel welcome as did the barman. The evening meal we had was very nice indeed and the breakfast one of the best we have had in a very long time. A good stay and would highly recommend.

Lovely pub, friendly owners. They also gave us a vegan breakfast, which we don't always expect, but really appreciate.

Pretty grotty run-down place - only open Monday to Friday evenings for food/refreshments - Good straightforward cooked Breakfast - otherwise pretty basic! - Probably overpriced at £70 for a 'deluxe room' - which meant it had it's own bathroom rather than shared!

It. Should have been mentioned when booking that there were no evening meals on Sundays and we weren't informed that there was no evening meal on the night we arrived until it was too late. Other than that it was a good stay. Food good. Landlady and husband very nice. Nice room.

All good, friendly service & genuine village pub. Good food, no frills but just what I wanted.
Mark, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

Our room was up some steep narrow stairs, and we were not helped with our overnight bags. We managed to get the last space in the pub car park, so there is limited parking. The bathroom was shared, which was fine as it was very close to our room-whose door could not open completely as it got stuck on the carpet. Tea and coffee making facilities were in the room as well as bottles of water.

Short countryside break

Lovely English pub out in the quiet country village great food cooked to order the breakfast is one of the best I have had away from home we had a ensuite twin room clean and warm ground floor with car parking just out side we should have stopped longer maybe next time very pleased John from cannock

Staff very friendly and helpful. Good breakfast: Choice cereals and cook 'English' breakfast; orange juice and tea/coffee (including decaf.) Had single room #4 above the pub bar. Steepish access stairs. Tea / coffee making facilities and biscuits provided. Bathroom / shower across landing and separate WC just round corner on landing. All clean and tidy. Bring your own shower gel... Shared by three single rooms. No conflicts of use during my stay. Bed comfortable. Good wifi signal (free.) Could just hear music playing in the bar early in the evening but this was off by the time I returned to go to bed at around 10:30. A good stay. Have arranged to stay again on future visit to area.

Lovely old pub, full of character and quirk. Comfortable accommodation, I had a twin room upstairs in the pub (bathroom facilities are shared with other rooms - toilet is separate to shower/bathroom). My sister had a ground floor triple with its own facilities. This is accessed from outside the pub. We were all more than happy with the accommodation (kids included so there's a compliment!), comfortable beds with homely touches. The landlady is lovely and cooks a mean breakfast. Great pub garden, free parking, friendly locals. Highly recommended!

The evening meal and breakfast was good. WIFI didn’t work, room was dated and dirty, bed old, mould on walls and in shower. Flakey paint and cracks on windows. Bedding was clean.
